If he dosen't deserve it after 30 goals in a season, why does McGeady?

    One Scott McDonald!

As far as I can see there is no reason why he shouldn't get it! Hope he can just bring last seasons amazing performances through to this season!

Your * acting like only legends for celtic have ever worn the number 7

which is a ludicrous statement even though the best 2 in our history wore it.. there were plently of duds who wore it too. cough John Colquhoun cough just to name one.

He is worthy of it and a lot more worthy than a lot of players who have worn it over the years, Juninho and Magic didnt deserve it and look what happened. Skippy has been excellent his first season and i truly believe we have a lot more to come from him yet.

    McDonald gets Number 7

Skippy is 24 years of age, not 25

never ment it to sound like i think he doesn't deserves it... just think it would be better if our star striker wore the famous 9 jersey and our wonderkid McGeady no7.

they are both outstanding and to be honest, Im not to botherd who gets what, as long as they repeat thier success this year.

This will boost Scotty's confidence even more and reinforce what Celtic means for him so I think he will be even more pumped than season 1. Watch out for 31 goals plus plus

Yeah he deserves it.im sure he'll continue from where he left off last season and show the doubters that hes worthy of it.
Does anyone know if the squad numbers have been released for the other players yet?

Should have been McGeady, no doubt. He's a much better player & if anyone we have can carry on the lineage of Johnstone, Dalglish, Larsson it's certainly him, not McDonald. Plus after Larsson giving No7 to a striker piles allot of pressure on him.

I would have thought number 9 is more a strikers number traditionally but given what number 7 means at Celtic, then there must be something special that the Club sees in Scott McDonald. Maybe they see Aiden McGeady being sold sooner rather than later? Whereas maybe they see Scott staying indefinitely? Eiether way I think Scott will do his best to live up to number 7.

There appears to be plenty of doubt actually seeing as his manager never gave him it.

The number does mean a lot in terms of merchandising and commercial dealings at Parkhead but at the very end of the day it is what it is, a squad number.

I think McGeady should get the number 7, We could give him a extra few quid from the shirt sales the same way Becks & Ronaldo get from their image rights, that along with giving him the extra push to live up to the number 7 legands Larsson & Jinky will make him realise how much better he could have it here, than at a lesser club. The grass is never greener away from Paradise.

I would have given it to McGeady as well.

I would have kept the numbers the same I dont see the need for people to change their numbers and people who never bought the papers that day go down and buy McDonald 27 on their shirt will be raging.

If it had to go to anyone, McGeady or Robson (Robson may not be most gifted but he shows huge heart and I think thats alot of what the 7 jersey is all about)
