Need to try and word this right,....As much as I love Lenny, and as much as I despise Rodgers.....when it comes to the PR and the media bit Lenny is * at times and could have learned from him on that score.

I know, * the media and it's about results, I just don't like when he trys to get smart like he done with the Quintero *. Sometimes its better to say nothing.

Very possibly, I'd still prefer he kept his own counsel instead of filling paper space.

And I know what you mean bud, that's why I was trying to word it correctly as I don't want to appear like a critical *...just a wee thing that grates me a bit with Lenny.

It absolutely 100% cuts out the eventual headline of Celtic miss out on number one target further down the line.

Had a few of these number one targets according to they *. Let them spout their * bud, I would tell them * all till we have something confirmed to tell them personally.

And how would saying we don’t know who the boy is and are definitely not after him not something that’s confirmed?

This is exactly my point, he knows fine well who the boy is regardless if we had an interest or not, the old adage of not talking about any * till they have signed works best for me.

Not a fan of managers trying to be funny, they often come across looking a bit *.

Really? I doubt he watches much of the Ecuadorian second division.

    But he’s not signing?

    There are two things here:

Firstly, you're mostly either going to get guys that speak what they are thinking and from the heart like Lenny, Tommy Burns, Jansen, Venglos... even Strachan and Mowbray to be fair OR guys that choose their words strategically like Brendan Rodgers. I personally strongly prefer the former, even though I might not agree with everything they say.

Guys that can do both with equal facility as the occasion demands are very rare, you hardly ever get both. The only one I can think of who was good at it here was MON, possibly due to his legal training. Ronny tried to do both and I actually really liked him when he spoke from the heart; but whenever he tried to be strategic like Rodgers, he invariably made an absolute * of it.

Secondly, that last season after he decided he was leaving, there was no one that liked the sound of his own voice in the media more than Brendan Rodgers. Compare Lenny's excellent handling of the KT speculation this summer with Rodgers absolutely waxing lyrical about it last summer even though there was far less concrete interest last summer. I only see this with hindsight; but there are plenty on here like McGuire (many times) and (IIRC) Padmill that said this at the time.

Having the club's interests at heart goes a long way IMO.

    No need to be rude!

    Ya *.

Ne seriously though, I knew my point was hard to explain and might have come across * if not made succinctly....looks like I failed miserably :lenny1:

Don’t understand people complaining about him ruling out a transfer target. I actually find the honesty and straightforwardness quite refreshing. Same goes for his comments regarding Tierney.

Could it be that people were excited about the Quintero lad and simply upset at Lennon for ruling him out?
