Didn't he admit he spoke to his agent about it and decided it wasn't for now?

For such a smart guy, you don't half ditch your obvious ability to reason at the drop of a hat when your buttons get pressed and you get mad. It's a defensible position to argue that we could and should have got a better manager than Lenny (which is why I don't quote that bit of your post); but to jump from that to implying that Lenny is a mediocre manager who has achieved nothing since leaving Celtic is quite a big leap.

Floundering? In midtable? A full division above where he found them?

Apart from winning promotion where others had failed and a EL qualification spot the very next season.

    How do you know?

Oh, * off with your patronising, sanctimonious pish.

    Yes, floundering.

    So, nothing relevant, then.

    Lawwell admitted it publicly.

    a) OK, reading it back... the sanctimonious thing... I can't really argue with that. :giggle1:
That "* off" is probably deserved.

    b) Would you really call that floundering? Come on, you're better than that Whoops, I did it again. I meant to say that's not really floundering, dude. Even quite apart from where he took them from.

    c) it's relevant, because it shows he did a good job at Hibs.

    d) Suddenly you believe Peter Lawwell? I remember you knew he was a liar before it was even fashionable and now suddenly you believe him? :56:

With all due respect, mate: if you don't want to find folk hiding in your locker, don't leave your dirty underwear in there for people to sniff. You need to start taking responsibility for your part in that whole incident.

It’s been said a million times in here. Lennon took Hibs up once Hearts and Rangers had got promotion ahead of them. He finished with 1 point more than the previous manager in an easier league. I’m not sure that’s really success worthy of the Celtic job in my opinion.

Is that the only thing he’s done in his managerial career?

He made the Hibs promotion sound like some sort of mammoth effort deserving of a Celtic job. Which is wasn’t, and it isn’t.

He hasn’t done anything else out with Celtic. The job was handed to him on a plate first time round and now he’s got a second shot of it due to the success he had then, which wasn’t exactly out of this world.

I don’t understand the pedestal he’s been put on, he really is the definition of an average manager for me. That’s my opinion, not a popular one to some die hards but I’d stick by it.

Average managers don’t take clubs like Celtic through the barrier of the Last 16.

And the handed on a plate first time round is just rewriting history.

They do - quite often, in fact.

    08/09: ten Cate (Panathinaikos)
    09/10: Ketsbaia (Olympiacos)
    11/12: Jovanović (APOEL)
    13/14: Míchel (Olympiacos)
    15/16: Vanhaezebrouck (Gent)

(I have excluded clubs like Basel and PSV, and been kind to managers like Solbakken too.)
