    Lance Armstrong - the guy won 7 consectutive tour de france's between 1999 -2005. The tour is 2,200 miles long over 23days.

    Thats some achievement

    Plus the fact he was diagnosed with cancer 1996!

    Although Cycling is not the most popular sport (im first to admit, I have never nor never would watch it) you have got to hand it to the man!

    Tiger is gifted, yes no doubt, but come on, see my sig...

    No mate .I gave you the definition of sport.It has nothing to do with TV or reporting and it was also a thread about the greatest sportsman.

    your definition was a competitive activity involving physical prowess. Darts physical prowess? Snooker physical prowess? Golf physical prowess? Naw mate. Competitive eating involves far more physical prowess than those (thats not a joke, btw). Tiddly winks at least as much as darts. The only thing that distinguishes Golf, snooker, Darts etc from those two is popularity, ie the fact that the media covers it and so sanctions it as a 'sport'.

    You certainly don't have to be an athlete to compete in these 'sports' and incidently you also you don't have to compete in any sport to be an athlete. Ballet dancers and free runners are phenomenal athletes, neither are sports.:celt_2:

    Still Tiger Woods. He beats hundreds of oppenents week in week out. He won a major with damaged ligaments. He is physically stronger than a lot of atheltes in any sport.

    Have to agree mate! I play Golf too but it's not a sport it is just a game. I only sweat when it's roasting. It's as energetic as snooker, cricket, darts or chess!

    You cannot class Tiger Woods as a true athlete with the likes of Boxers, Runners, footballers etc, he is just a gifted overpaid golfer.

    He is physical stronger than most althetes.

    Its not a sport, no warming up for 3 hours before your round, putting your all into every shot for 6 or 7 hour, then going back to the driving ranger after the round. In temperatures that we can only dream of. Aye seem's easy. Theres a reason he can hit it further than most, because he is fitter and a better athelete.
