    Never realised he got MOTM, game was kind of * though. Thought it was like our Cup final where nothing really happened the whole game other than the goals, not even other chances that could have been goals or any pressure on either team.

    I'll be honest. I'm totally surprised that he's turned into the player he has. I thought he was good, but would have struggled slightly against better strikers in England and Europe. He has turned into possibly the best defender on the planet right now, and it's * brilliant.

    Hate the way the press here talk about Scottish football sometimes. We get enough of it from a bunch of clueless pundits south of the border without our own press sticking the knife in at every opportunity. You get some outstanding players in the Premiership obviously, but you also get some utter duds. I had to laugh when Glen Hoddle suggested that last nights game was the poorest he’d seen between two premiership team - he can’t have been watching for very long.

    Van Dijk is one of the best centre backs in the world, and you know what? He was while he was here too, even if he hadn’t proven it as of yet. The whole question of ‘is he good enough for the English Premiership’ is ridiculous. There’s a massive chasm between being good enough for Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc and being good enough for a mid-table team, let alone one of the sides battling relegation, who are mostly terrible. No idea why pundits talk about it in a collective sense in terms of quality.

    This is why Sutton is 20 times more important to Scottish football than Nicholas, Provan and Walker put together. I remember him been on Final Score on the BBC when Man City signed John Stones and he told them all that City had made a big mistake as VVD was a far better player. He made the point really forcefully and they all just looked at him as they daren't argue with him but he was 100% right.
