I hate how this has been largely glossed over. We have people running our club who can't even be arsed to do their due diligence on every candidate to be our next * manager?

Are these * for real? Feels bizarre to say after a treble treble and 8 in a row but I'm really starting to feel like the board room needs some fresh impetus.

Neil Lennon deserves the job? I'm right behind him now, don't get me wrong, but how does anybody DESERVE the Celtic job bar the best candidate?

I think rocking up to a steamy dressing room to a guy still in his punders and saying “ye fancy it?” is slightly unprofessional :giggle1:

Nobody expected Rodgers either. He took it though. I'm fully behind Lennon like I would be regardless of who it was managing us, however going from Rodgers and then back to Lennon is a backwards step, no doubt about it. We should have been looking to bring in someone on a par or better than Rodgers. The board made a statement when they brought in Rodgers, they had to after Deila to get the fans back, now they don't have to we have reverted back to the norm, cheap option. I was delighted when Lennon got the job first time round, although it was the cheap option it was the right appointment I felt, we needed someone to rejuvenate the fans after the shambles Mowbray left and he done it. I just don't think he is the right man for the job now though.

The thing I find funny about stuff like this is we all knew that Rodgers was a one off, we all said the full time he was with us we were lucky he was with us and it’d be impossible to get a man like him in again.

We’ve replaced him with a man who has league winning experience, experience in the CL, experience of winning CL qualifiers and a proven eye for getting a young, cheap player in and selling on for a large fee after they give us good service.

I don’t think there was much better we could have hoped for, people talking of Martinez, Benitez, * me even Wenger and Mourinho.

No idea where their heads are at

There was a Board Meeting at Hampden after the final whistle and a decision was made off the back of it. A number of them then went down, congratulated him and offered him the post.

    Lawwell’s take.

Did we? I wouldn't say we were lucky to have him. I felt like we had a manager that our club and fans deserved. A manager that a club our size should have. Our board had finally got their act together, it was just a pity it took an embarrassing defeat against that mob for it to happen. I'm still stunned we have given Lennon the job, I never for one second thought he would get it on a permanent basis, and it appears the board didn't even consider anyone else given how quickly he was offered it. The only plus point in my opinion is that it has been sorted out quick which gives us a better chance in the CL qualifiers.

Think you must have been the odd one out then, general consensus (on here and fans I know outwith here) is that if he didn’t have an affinity with us previously he would have been beyond us.

I tend to agree with that.

He was the exception, not the rule.

I felt his pain that day. He was clearly the only man we had on the pitch capable of scoring a goal.

Lennon still hasn’t officially accepted the offer. I hope the delay is down to the fact he is discussing the transfer budget he is going to receive. Given Lawwell has came out and stated they want Lennon, it puts Lennon in a strong negotiation position. Hope he is pushing them for a sizeable war chest!

    Highly doubt it.

This is the best job he will be getting. I would be amazed if he is willing to push back too hard.

War chest has been a dream for too long.

I agree that it’s the best offer/job he is going to get. But Lawwell has shown his hand and told everyone he wants Lennon to take the job, Lennon would be naive not to try and take advantage of that slightly.

Any budget less than 15 million is pathetic (exc. player sales)
