Flip side is jennie even though late in the day we matched the offer he felt he wouldn’t have gotten match time at Celtic

Aye but come on, we had all summer to bid the money. Villa's first bid out-did all of ours. There shouldn't have been anything to need to match, because we should have had it done, it was something our double-treble winning manager wanted. And we didn't get it done for no other reason than our own incompetence and arrogance imo.

We * him about, only made the same offer when he was already down at Villa with terms agreed.

Lawwell dragged his heels and could have had the deal done and dusted instead of * about offering less then 2 million for him at the start of the summer and it dragged even McGinn said himself he was waiting for celtic to offer the money Hibs wanted. 2.75 million!

I think Lawwell offered 1.25 million at the start of the summer, then it was something like 50k more and was * them about.

McGinn was down at Villa terms agreed and the deal was done, then Lawwell comes out with “offer”

    * pig

Totally forgot about Scharr, he had a * great season with Newcastle as well.

Pinicci would have been some signing as well, imagine if we got the three of them? Got into the champions league and Moussa wasn’t sold. * me that would have been unreal.

    Then again Lawwell * it

I’ve seen McGinn tear up the Championship this season and he was quality today. I still prefer; Broony, Calmac and Tam at their best though. He’s not better than any of those 3.

That being said it was a no brainer at the cost and he would have definitely played more next season in place of Brown. A James McCarthy level mistake.

I’m not sure what to think about the McGinn situation now. Lenny said Hibs wanted Christie in exchange and that was a big no from us.

Yup he was a natural replacement for Brown, but as you say sadly that ship has sailed. Massive * up imo.

At the time I was so flippy floppy on him. I'm still somewhat convinced he himself wouldn't have joined as he strikes me as someone who'd refuse to be a rotational bench player, to some extent I'm sure he even feels vindicated by that decision after the season he's had with Villa.

Just not convinced he was ever really attainable, but in light of guys like Ntcham being potentially being sold and Rogic always struggling to find full fitness, perhaps he still would have got 20+ games this season.

Ah well. Lennon is here now, let's hope we can get the defence sorted and compliment the rest of squad with a few extra additions

It’s trendy to like him just now, happens with players.

Put it this way, I wouldn’t swap Calmac for him in a month of Sunday’s. For Celtic or Scotland.

Peter lawell favourite quote has to be:

"we are doing all we can at the moment that is within our financial constraints"

How many times have we heard that. You'd think we were a mid table side in a division. You'd expect that comment from any other chief exec in the spfl, not the dominant side! Guy is a *!!
