Could it be possible that the board wanted to gauge fans reaction to Lennon getting the job? Note they know the fans aren't happy they could probably make it difficult for him to accept. For instance, * poor budget. Making him realise why he left in the first place.

...nah * it. Wouldn't have happened this way.

You cant recall a good performance me either , but you need to remember, ( no mentioning barca) this season has been poor in terms of football, but * sake a treble treble , I mind we won tha Scottish cup in 95 , was like a title to me , now you're greeting about the manager or " fud "

Some people just bought into money or success , that's what it feels like .

He is the man now. Whatever thoughts of those on here have ecpressed previously the fact of the matter is Lenny is the manager and he has a lot of work to do. No doubt he and the club will have been spending time identifying targets and as well as those who need to be moved on. The team does need an injection of new blood to freshen up. As great as winning 8IAR and the treble treble has been, it's time for putting what is in the past aside and push on now to 9IAR, and who knows, maybe a quadruple treble?

Come on man, you're asking folk to wonder about the huge gap in your evidence while accusing someone of having a huge gap in intelligence, you loved him as a player but suddenly jump to Bolton to justify your argument casually dismissing Spartak away, our first win away in Europe for ages, Nearly taking points of Barca twice (second best team ever to play football) in two weeks. Handling death threats and bullets in the post.

To reduce the guy to Bolton a team who are a red flag amongst many describing the fallacy of finance being the new soul of football.

    Don't mistake onions for opinions.

So much for the in the know mob on carrotdale street. Don’t think there’s a bigger Celtic man to take us to the ten. He’s genuine not like the last guy.

    Hooper, ledley, wanyama on loan.

Could even see what that big Dutch donkey that left for Southampton is up to these days.

I don't want to spam this thread but reading your post I was wondering if there has already been a thread asking the question, should the board be more accountable because the nonsense of speculation makes a mockery of fans as it only serves click bait and bookies?

Or is it more important our board's dealings are kept confidential because any other way is just opening the window for everyone to feel how strong the breeze is?

He's singing in the tunnel 'Don't try to be wide as freebirds fly, these words are more important than you, your ancestors died and they left a song inspired so you would know that your dreams are sound not bound, if you take them away then the lyrics don't make hay they just sound like you've become none at all.'

You can back the man, love the club, and still be critical of the appointment. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

    Back to hiding, I go.

Let’s not kid ourselves into thinking this is a good appointment. It’s not.

Every single one of our rivals next year will be delighted with it. They know Lennon and how he plays, but that could be to our advantage. They might underestimate Lennon.

We need to trust in what Brendan has planted into the club in the background and that in time we will see the benefits. Lennon does have a great eye for players and we desperately need new players in. So even if we start the season pish and have to sack him... at least we have the right players in place. We have top quality coaches around him to help him. When he had Hibs playing well, we couldn’t beat them.

Give Lenny a clean slate and I think he can surprise us all.

Having just watched Sportscene this morning Alan Stubbs made a very valid point. Is it possible that Lenny was always going to get the managers job. ? He suggested that maybe they seen what had happened at Man Utd when they announced Solskaer as the new manager. They lost form and focus, players switching off. By announcing Lenny as manager earlier they may not have wanted to jeopardise the Treble Treble with our players losing focus. Anyway, looks like Lenny will be taking us towards 9, we all have to get behind him and see how the close season and transfer buisness goes.

I'm nervous because Lennon had it so easy during his first tenure due to Rangers in the *. With Gerrard rebuilding, we really need to get this transfer season right. So right. Otherwise 9 in a row looks shaky. And 10 in a row will just be a distant dream.

Jesus wept, won the treble? 1 trophy of the 9, he never won a treble during his original stint in much easier terms and thats a fact.

Here's to a season of long balls and 'getting it in the box early' tactics

There are pros and cons on either side of the argument, and while it would be nice in a perfect world for consultation etc to be taken into account with fans, this is unlikely to ever be a practicality.

Indeed, less than 10yrs ago and the club were still being prosaicly antiquated in it's dealings and communicating with fans, much less expressing information about potential signing targets etc. And while there have been moves since then to embrace social media more, it is still relatively reserved in doing so, and quite rightly. The club only uses it when confirming facts. Done deals, teams once officially named etc. No matter how big or small, it is never used for speculation.

One need to look no further than the absurdity of the drivel that Trump spouts on twitter in seeing the reason why here.

The board is required to be answerable to share holders and fans alike, but that does not mean that they need to consult prior to making these decisions. If the Board gets it wrong then they have to be held accountable. Again, one need only look at the recent threads on here about who should be next manager etc, and there were countless names mentioned, with different advocates, which is to splinter and plunge into debate, rather than solidify supporters in a united rallying point.

If the club were to start consulting everyone, would anything ever get done to the satisfaction of everyone? No.

With Lenny returning there has to be a level of questioning why, naturally.

After all, he was the manager 5yrs ago and yet something must have triggered him seeking out a new challenge elsewhere at that time and now returning to the club where most of the major players at the Board level are still in place. DD is still the majority shareholder, PL is still the Chief Executive, et al. So there are the men that Lenny is going to have to bnwork with moving forward, just as they were when he left the first time.

It is good that there is a level of stability at the Board level, so long as they are able to balance between safeguarding Celtic's long term viability and future as a club with the pressing need of maintaining the pre-eminant position of dominance in the immediate future for the team.

There is a reason why the Club doesn't announce that they are trying to sign such and such a player publically. At best it all goes well and in which case there is nothing to report. However, we already are in the position of competing for signatures with the spectre of the over-inflated English market looming in the background. Celtic's track record in identifying good young talents from abroad, the likes of Wanyama or VVD, means that agents often, if they get wind that Celtic are interested in their client will then ship that news to other clubs to attract rival bids, knowing the English clubs can often afford more. More money in the deal for the client means more money for the agent, and that is the bottom line there.

To put it another way, if Celtic then were to announce that we are interested in signing "joe bloggs" in advance of actually putting pen to paper and the deal doesn't end up materializing for whatever reason, how would that look then?

There is a reason why these negotiations are done in private and why the rumour mill. while endlessly entertaining to those that perpetuate it while filling column inches in newspaper etc, is rarely an informed or accurate source of what actually ends up happening.

How many players do we sign when seemingly out of nowhere or without there being a big flap in advance of, compared to those that we are supposedly linked with all the time that actually then come to fruition?

So, just something for everyone to keep in mind over the silly season that is now upon us, when there is no actual football to be played and the rumour mills and the news outlets are desperate for copy, in leiu of actually providing good journalism, while Lenny and the club are busily trying to recruit new blood and offload players currently on the books simultaneously.

How?! Rangers, Hibs and Hearts were all useless and not in the division who give us the most problems.

Aberdeen have improved vastly as well.
