I reckon if he was going to be in charge next season it would have been announced long ago. No reason not to as it would have helped with stability.

Thank you for everything Neil. I would be delighted if he done a Tommy and stayed around in a reduced capacity.

I can't stress enough the importance of having people like him around who get what this club is all about.

If he wants to move on and be his own man then he goes with the greatest of my wishes and luck for the future.

    Legend.

Thinking there , we all want a big name manager but that must come with a big player budget . Would Lenny be that bad at shaping his team with his own players ?

I don’t want Lennon as manager but I was disappointed not to hear a One Neil Lennon chant during the game.

Back when Rodgers left we did have an 8 point lead but I’ll admit even I wasn’t overly confident in us not * up with the run of fixtures we had to contend with. Hearts away, Hibs away, Huns twice, Aberdeen twice etc.

It’s not been pretty but we got the job done and I’ll always be grateful.

NL: I enjoyed the game and all the celebrations. These are great moments. It is really important to the players they enjoy it because it is the culmination of all the hard work and talent. It was important to win."

Could they really announce it when they didnt know how he would perform?

Id imagine the board would have waited until the end of the season to make the appointment because to see if he could bring home the treble.

I still think there is a reasonable chance he could get the job, if he beats hearts comvincingly then he has performed when it mattered.

Could you see him staying if he didnt get the managers job?
Would he accept a coaching/first team role given everything he has achieved?
Would his influence/presence on the contingent of players who will remain, undermine the new manager?

All good points mate. I think if he was going to get it full time then the moment to announce it would have been when we won the league. The fact it wasn't is telling imo.

Only Neil will know if he would accept a coaching role or if a new manager would actually want him.

I don't think he has an ego that couldn't accept it though.

Class act. Hopefully he completes the treble treble and leaves even more of a legend than he already is.

They are not going to tell Lenny he isn't getting the job until they have someone else signed up. He is their safety net in case they can't get any of their preferred candidates to come. How is it going to look if they tell him he isn't the man for the job, all their choices knock us back and then they have to go back to him? No, he'll be told he is in the mix and they are weighing up their options.

Not beyond the realms of possibility that he could be the dof alongside Parker as the head of recruitment ,if we ever have a situation where the manager * off ,a la the rat, we have covered this angle if he is not getting the main gig .

I think Lenny knows he isn't gettin it, also think the Board already have their man. No announcement could be made before the cup final, it just wouldn't be fair on Lenny or the players.

Lenny's remit was to take us to the end of the season, he was never promised the job, i'm sure he realises that, appreciates and accepts the situation.

I certainly agree with the logic behind what you are saying, where it falls down for me is by thinking those in charge are competent enough to get their man signed sealed and delivered on schedule to be announced after the final.

Aye, this is the most logical.....well, logic we have the now.

If Lennon was getting the job they'd have announced it before the final league game (I think).

The Scottish Cup final will be his swansong, then new manager will be announced, most likely on the Monday.

No chance Celtic will want any "distractions" in the week run up toward not only the Scottish Cup final, but the final charge toward a treble treble...
