But the reality is he probably will get it, and as much as we’d like a Rafa or Mourinho sort of appointment, it’s sadly pie in the sky as managers like that will have agents just using us to either get their client a better deal in Rafa’s case or a job full stop in Jose’s case.

They’re not the only managers we could get, as much as we wouldn’t want it to happen again Brendan Rodgers going to Leicester and doing well has shown that we can be the club to get someone back to their best.

That’s why we should get Sven goran eriksson

That's only a handful of examples I gave because you asked.

I'm all for critiquing his tactics, team selections, substitutions and reasons you think he's suitable or unsuitable for the post long-term - I've done it myself - but I don't understand why people need to diminish his achievements to do that.

If the internet and social media were around when Billy McNeill went through 2 trophyless seasons finishing 3rd and 5th in the league I can only imagine some of the nonsense that would've been written.

I've said it before but we as fans are the first to demand loyalty from players and managers yet some can't find it within themselves to be dignfied to a guy who has given our club 14 years outstanding service, in the face of a narrow-minded, bigoted wee country and stood in when our rat of a manager high-tailed it out.

Aye it's not been pretty, aye last Sunday was an atrocious performance, aye some of the decisions have been baffling, aye he's not my preferred man to takeover long-lerm but I don't see the need to try rewrite history or make up speculation to back up that perspective.

You are correct. I accept that a few have gone overboard in their criticism of NL and used terms (jokingly or otherwise) that are unacceptable.

However, any form of criticism of NL is unacceptable to others it seems.

I think 99% of fans on here salute Neil's contribution to our club and the status he is rightly afforded.

That is irrelevant to the here and now. He has had 2 jobs since leaving Celtic and left both "by mutual consent".

People say we were lucky he was available when BR left - I'd say he was lucky as he was out of work. Let's be honest - there isn't exactly a queue of clubs lining up to hire him and none close to the stature of our club.

The performances since he came in have been mostly average at best and he was schooled tactically by Clarke and Gerrard. The team selection last week was wrong and we were really lucky that we only lost 2 - 0 - let's be honest FFS - they * all over us. Lennon had no clue what to do about their obvious domination in midfield - Edouard was man marked out of the game, Mikey and Rogic were non-existent and Lustig was gift wrapped for Kent.

Lennon's analysis - "Leggy" - blame the players and the idiotic "we only looked at the first 3 minutes". Not to mention his ill-advised criticism of the fans.

There are the stories about the conflict behind the scenes with Lennon and the Sports Science people. The truth is that football and our club have moved on a lot in the last 5 years - Lennon and his "tactics" have not.

You cannot live on the history of 5 years ago. If Lennon gets the job, IMO the majority of Celtic fans will be underwhelmed. If we start next season badly - it won't take long before the fans make their voice heard.

At this point, NL could leave after (hopefully) a Cup Final win and his legacy at the club will be enhanced and guaranteed.
However, if DD/PL make the same mistake as IMO Man Utd have made and are guided by sentiment - he will probably end up leaving by "mutual consent" at some point next season and his legacy would be forever tarnished.

I would hate to see that.

As previously stated. Am happy to give Neil Lennon the job next season.

But putting opinion aside. Just looking at facts. If he completes the treble treble, regardless of what your opinion maybe of him. He will get the job. I think it is that simple. As much as we have fans rights now making noise about wanting a new manager, imagine the noise if he completed the treble treble and didn't get kept on? As I say when we strip away our opinions and just look at the fact I think it's always going to be Neil Lennon in charge next year.

The vast majority of Bhoys will back him to the hilt of course but if he gets the job it is a serious lack of ambition.
