Hes racked up some big wins in the championship. Can't really blaming him for not playing attacking football with the teams he's managed in the epl.

All I could tell you was 4 players he signed as a Celtic and Ireland fan. Kayal, Hooper, Duffy and Towell. 2/4 good signings for good prices. Seems the same ratio as most managers we sign. Not even a Celtic fan would of predicted that Hooper would turn out poor either.

To be fair I’d forgotten about Napoli, but at Inter he only lasted 6 months and were those trophies not won at start of season, so not really him, likewise Chelsea he was interim coach, coasting with someone else’s team.

By that same token Lenny has won the league this year, hopefully the cup too to get us the treble treble, so perhaps he’s best qualified to take us forward?

Alex McLeish is someone I’d call a dinosaur. Benitez and Mourinho are still good managers, imo.

See Chris Coleman's been sacked in China.

No doubt that'll be him jumping up to the top of the bookie's queue for our next manager, know how cause they're just listing evercunt and anycunt :87:

Seeing people turn their nose up at Rafa is mental. The guy is a fantastic manager.

If Sinclair, ntcham and Rogic where to go this summer (all hypothetical) then I would be expecting £20m plus for the 3 of them all in

    £12m Rogic
    £9m ntcham
    £3m Sinclair

They ain’t bad players overnight! But your theory is excellent in terms of outgoing and incoming amounts

I was thinking £10m for Rogic and about 6/7m for Ntcham based on this season, not sure if sinclairs contract extension has been triggered? If it has then 3m sounds about right imo.

Outgoings this season could cover a £25-30m overhauling in the summer without even taking into account money already banked.

I can't see us getting anywhere near £3 million for a 30 year old Sinclair who is on the decline.

Love this he is on a decline, he is inconsistent his stats again this season show he has contributed to the team even if his performances have left a lot to be desired! 30 year old is peak years!

I'd say it's irrefutable that he's on the decline. In his first season for us at the age of 27 he was like a whippet, going inside and out of defenders, tying them in knots, regularly banging in goals from 20+ yards. We've not seen that sort of performance from Sinclair in a long time even if he has still chipped in with goals, although they've tended to now be more of the poacher variety.

Given how low they already think of Scottish Football, I just can't see an English team splurging £3 million and £35k+ per week on him. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong on that though.

Seems a bit too pally with Slippy and is known to crack under pressure. I'm not saying I wouldn't take him but I'd rather Mourinho. He would have Slippy, Jabba, the refs, the whole establishment on the run.

Don’t think I’ve ever read or heard Rafa being deemed a dinosaur. Everyone and their dug can see the evolution of player power over clubs and managers has bypassed Jose to an extent, that’s why there has been suggestions he’s a bit of a dinosaur.

Not for me right enough, he’s still a winner despite that. But he’s nowhere near as effective as he was 10 years ago when ‘The Special One’ was a managerial colossus.

See i think Mourinho would be at his best with a club like ours - similar to the situation he was in at Porto. A smaller club in terms of European stature but the biggest fish in the pond in their own league.
He would have no massive egos like at Madrid or Utd to deal with - he could build a team in his vision. And he'd be given time as he would waltz the league here.
Not saying i don't want or never have rated Benitez but a bit like Jose has his time come and gone? He's no doubt on another plane compared to Clarke, Moyes and Lennon and would continue our success. He was also a fantastic cup game manager so would no doubt improve our fortunes in Europe (or i hope he would).
I don't know much of his inner workings so i don't know if he is as all encompassing as someone like Mourinho or even Rodgers in terms of opposition scouting, match preperation etc.

Other than Wales i dont think he has ever really performed well as a manager. Lennon or Moyes would be far more deserving of the job

I would argue what he achieved with Inter was bigger than what he achieved with Chelsea

True, but after the season both Ntcham and Rogic have had, we will not get close to that for either. Do you think a team who may have been scouting them in recent times would think those sorts of fees would be justified?

It's a drop in the ocean for many teams now with Increasing tv deals. It seems to only be Scotland who cant seem to move on.
