Cold hard facts from wiki . What´s laughable about them?
Even the Evening Times seem to have lifted some info from Wiki to make-up there article.

A small amount of money why not have a punt.

A wee observation though if this was a Hun signing most would be taking the *.

    * does that tell you about a footballers ability to play football? :97:

Also whats to say i never went in and edited that before you copy and pasted it? nothing.

You've changed your tune now as well to 'why not have a punt' from dismissing it at the start.

It shows at the age of 24 McCourt has not exactly stepped up the ladder.
It also shows for an attacking player he is not too prolific at a lower level.
These are the only facts we have at our disposal to judge him on.
Not much granted. As to why I asked if anyone had heard of him?

Show me a post where I dismissed the guy?

All I said was his C.V. was not to impressive.

    Never judged him directly.

You also seem to read posts selectively. Why do you do that?

Coming from Derry, I've seen this guy in action a good few times.

Definite potential, but as noted before has problems with consistency, fitness and if rumours are to be believed a bit too fond of the booze.

Very highly regarded though. More highly regarded than Doyle & Long when they got their big moves. Just because someone doesn't make it when they are a teenager doesn't mean they can't later. Kevin Doyle scored 25 in 75 games for Cork City, by no means a great record.

Give the guy a chance, that's all I'm asking. I understand that coming from the Irish leagues means you are meet with a certain amount of derision. But Lubo came from a 2nd division German team, and Legia Warsaw are no giants either. Derry, despite being poor last season, put Gothenberg out of the UEFA cup two years ago and gave PSG a tight match with McCourt in the team. Derry are by no means brilliant, but probably not as bad as some people on here are making out.

I don't really see the problem. It's not like he is going to be the only signing we make this season. A guy with obvious potential who was wanted by a Premiership team and is capped is signed for 150k-200k. Not the end of the world considering we have guaranteed CL football this year. I'd rather have him than sign Lafferty who scored the same amount of goals as him last season for 4mil, or Kenny Miller again. Jesus, a Championship club couldn't wait to get shot of Kenny Miller.

Just remember, I'm sure the rivals of Nottingham Forest laughed at them when they brought over another young guy from Derry and another from Cork, at two smaller clubs than Derry City are.

Now Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane are football legends.

'Doesn't sound impressive' 'His wiki is not too clever'

Both dismissing the guy before you've even seen him kick a football.

I seem to read posts selectively? News to me, i pick out the points within certain posts i disagree with and attempt to put the other side of the argument across.

Not dismissive. (Your puting words in my mouth)

Just observing his profile/facts of his career thus far and made a comment not to impressive (what was false about that). In the grand scheme of things his footballing C.V.May not mean much but it was the only factual info at hand to go on.

You have just admitted as much in the above post.
You are selective as you said "you have changed your tune" that is not a fair comment as my posts in this thread speak for themselves. It’s easy to pick bit’s out of a post or even twist a whole post to suit yourself. Not exactly a balanced way to go about things.:38:

BTW if I had changed my tune a more accurate satement from me would have been. I´ve changed my mind, his footballing stats are not poor they are off the chart. but that would have been a lie. Do you not think?

At no point have I directly dismissed McCourt´s abilities as a footballer all I have done is point out the facts. To suggest otherwise is just wrong.

I'm a Celtic fan No.1.Derry City fan No.2.Get to more Derry games these days being from Derry and all that.Hope this signing goes ahead.Mark my words,Paddy has the potential to make it at Parkhead.Possible future replacement for Aiden.I think it's down to Paddy whether or not he is a success. If he knuckles down and with the better coaching, etc. he'll be a star.

Welcome to TC, Celtcolm and *DerryBhoy*

So from the people that have seen him the most they reckon that he isnt giving it 100% in training and his general approach to football these days. I think the Celtic staff, especially Lennon, can change that attitude!

West Bromwich Albion have pulled out of a deal for Pat McCourt, with the Derry City winger now tipped to join Celtic.

The Premier League new boys had agreed a fee with Derry last week and discussed personal terms with McCourt.
But Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed the club have ended their interest in signing the former Rochdale youngster.
Mowbray told the club's official website: "While we are trying to get the first team right for the Premier League, we are also looking to bring in players to strengthen the underbelly of the club.

    I certainly hope so Dempsey.

Living in London at the moment and got a mate who is a Rochdale fan. They had high hopes for him and he reckons he had the world at his feet then. Got a couple of bad injuries and his confidence was knocked. However, he did claim that he saw flashs of undoubted brilliance. Hopefully WGS can do the same with Pat (if/when he signs) as he did with Aiden, add consistency and end results to his game.
