One of the main reasons I want him nowhere near the dugout.

Pure hysterical pish. We have picked up more points over the last 8 games than anyone else in the league.

All done better than us whilst we were playing that style of football though, under Brendan?

With the exception of Salzburg, who have never made it to the Champions League. Slavia Prague as well, haven’t made it to the Group Stages since 07-08.

Frankfurt I don’t know much about, so can’t really comment on that.

Ajax are definitely a good model to follow but I think it’d take us a good 20 odd year to get anywhere near as good as they are at actually implementing that model. Especially when they are already in the perfect place to implement, far stronger than our position to do so.

This. Salzburg have a net spend of 10-15m most summers and their wage bill is lower than ours, and they played us off the park like nothing I have seen outside of Barca and PSG. As you say other sides seem to get to a far better standard than us on the same budgets. It's down to management, coaching and recruitment . Get that right and we might have a chance, hated it when BR used to say its unrealistic to compete etc.

Correct , freefall. Our performances have nosedived considerably and we are dropping points at home and away.

And will now get about 200/250m when this team gets broken up at the end of the season.

If we had a competent football department with regards to scouting/recruitment etc then we’d be continually improving our team to the point where we’re getting stupid money for players and can build towards taking everything up a couple of levels.

There’s absolutely no way Ajax would give the likes of Rogic, Bitton, Jozo, Griffiths, Ntcham, Gordon all big contracts when there was opportunities to sell them. Or bring the likes of Izzy back and refusing to sell Boyata because they didn’t have a replacement lined up. Never minded not even looking at potential replacements for their best player(Dembele).

Everything a the club needs improved in the football department but it counts for nothing if we don’t get a manager who’s going to use it all to our advantage.

No, not freefall.. as we have stayed about the same points ahead since Rodgers left..

Performance level has been poor tho, there’s no denying it..

Reading the last few pages was funny. I've swung between thinking Lennon is a certainty to get the job and then thinking he's no chance of getting it. Hate the speculation. :giggle1:

Do you remember the start of the season? And being ahead of the monkeys on goal difference going into the winter break. Lennon also came in and got us back to back wins in Edinburgh where fuckface had struggled. Yes the performances haven’t been brilliant but there was already issues with this before Lennon took over.

Yet we are gaining more points than anyone else. We have fallen from first to first.

We never played that style under Rodgers in Europe though bar a couple of games. Our pressing was non existent in Europe aside from a few games.

And I was continually told I was wrong when I was criticising Rodgers football in Europe. * ironic now that he’s left all of a sudden everyone else now sees the problems he had in Europe.

His tactic wasn’t taking the game to the opposition. Just because he wanted us to have the ball doesn’t mean we were attacking. It was similar to Van Gaal at United. Absolutely terrified defensively so he was scared to give the ball away and just had us playing hundreds of passsing around at the back while the opposition waited on us slipping up and making a mistake.

We need someone who’ll have us playing a modern aggressive game of attacking quickly and pressing the team all over the pitch.

Loads of teams seem to find these managers yet we’re supposed to settle for Lennon? Nah.

His quote about a striker yesterday tells me he isn’t getting it, saying that’s where he would be looking to strengthen instead of saying that’s what he is doing.

The hyperbolic pish regarding how we’ve done since Rodgers left is really getting tedious to read at this stage. There was always going to be an element of regression having lost one of our best ever managers (domestically anyway) three quarters of the way through a season in which we had only recently freshened things up under his management.

I’m not convinced on Lennon getting the job at all either but people using his time here since he’s come back as a major reason for not wanting him to get it are being either really stupid or really pedantic. It’s not his team and he plays a different style of football to what Rodgers played. IF he gets the job he should be judged on what he does with the team he builds himself.

Except for the last sentence I 100% agree with that.

I think he tried to implement it but couldn’t for some reason. Well not for some reason, think he fundamentally has no idea how to think defensively. Including when you’re defending on the front foot.

    Celtic Da patter that.

After the break we had 18 goals from 7 games under the snake. All victories.

Since Lennon came in we've scored 8 goals in 8 league games. Including three 0-0 draws.

We are not in freefall but we are absolutely right to be alarmed at constant turgid performances and the serious lack of end product.

Some good posts in here in last few pages.

I wouldn't say we're in freefall. We're flat as * though and badly need season to end. This is like Deila's season, kept thinking before every game 'this is finally the game where it'll click and we'll score a few', but it never happened. This is feeling same way.

I’m not that daft mate :56: even Rodgers couldn’t see it so absolutely no chance Lenny would.

Before anyone else jumps in I’m not saying Broony is past it, we need him for the big games but against teams like Killie and Livingston at home there’s no point in having him and McGregor as sitting mid.
