No, he was in the minority who supported the idea of following the recent Ajax model by buying two or three more expensive players and mixing them with our own youth players.

I don't really care tbh... Just adding another fact to the thread.

I think our manager will be Lennon next year.

    Edit*

Or Moyes or possibly even Clarke.

If it's not one of they 3 I will be shocked.

That’s good, have you actually seen how much Ajax spent in the summer? Aye let’s just * over £10 million on players like Tadic.

This is complete nonsense. Lenny turned that season around before the Huns were docked points. He did brilliantly that season from the brink of disaster.

Why not? That's how a big team in a smaller league gets to the later stages of the CL.

“I think Ziyech is way out in front in the player of the year voting” said Sander Zeldenrijk, editor in chief of Ajax’s dedicated newspaper, Ajax Life. “But for me, Tadic has been the most important player this season. His statistics are very impressive, but that does not tell the full story of the impact he has had on the team.

“The board deserve credit because they identified him early on, when they were making their recruitment plans and got the deal done quickly so that he could bed in over the summer. It was a lot of money by Ajax [£10m] standards, but they were willing to spend it because they had the money to spend after player sales and felt Tadic could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.

“The club wanted Tadic and Blind to add some experience, but most of all, they wanted people with a track record of winning things. The team had lots of potential, some excellent young players, but it did not have those senior players alongside them.

“The squad looks far more balanced. When the pressure is on in games, you see Tadic and Blind keeping everyone focused and together. We didn’t have that knowhow last season."

After they went into admin they were in freefall, we had the chance to win the title at their hovel, but bottled it.

A team managed by Ally McCoist managed to skelp us. :52:

Bottled the league cup final that year too, against that well-known colossus Kilmarnock.

Got dumped out of the SC by Hearts in the semi. Another bottle job.

It was a * season overshadowed by the beginning of the Banter Years.

This Ajax stuff needs to stop, we are in now way comparable, they sell players for far more then we do, they likely earn more domestically then we do.

In general they earn more then we do, yes, perhaps their wage budget is lower, but they play in a better league, with more exposure.

There is no * * way we could afford anything north of £15mill net spend on transfers every season without regular CL football or selling players for the profits they do. Being where we are domestically completely leaves this club in a very restrictive corner.

Ajax are a club that spent apparently upwards of £45mill this season, after selling players to the value of £70mill+ the season before.

    * season? Winning the league against the old Huns?

As for Ibrox, you're talking about a game the authorities were determined we wouldn't win; where we had two men sent off, fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2 and would have equalised if the ref hadn't deliberately blown early.

We then went on to scud them 3-0 in the next game. It was a brilliant league campaign by Lenny after the first half at Kilmarnock.

2 nonsense red cards given against us in the game at their midden. We were never going to be allowed to win that. The streets would've ran red.

Referee gave a penalty to Hearts for an alleged Wanyama handball in the box (it was actually Ledley the ball struck from 2 yards away but I guess they look similar?)

Kilmarnock was a shambles no doubt about it.

Mugs. They would have been much better putting £40 million in the bank and getting put out in the qualifiers.

Aye right, not like they've made £75million last season or £72 million the season before that in player sales alone.

What do we post in net profits each year?.

I’ll tell you why not the tv deals and our income, plus if you think we could spend what Ajax just did in the summer your deluded.

Agent of Roberto Martinez came out today and said it's a "false rumour" that he might move to Celtic, and that it's not going to happen.

That is skewed given Ajax never made the Champions League the year before where as we did, plus this Ajax model is * stupid. They have easier access to foreign players and a bigger share of tv budget. Going by your views you’re wanting us to gamble the house on making the group stages every year.
