Whose fault is that by the way?

And it's not a drill either, the fact is that Lenny and Ronny had their best player sold out from under them every summer for several years in a row and the season in question it was more than one. That simply never happened to Brendan, who was even allowed to let Boyata run down his contract, costing us millions.

Ronny was hopeless. Losing to a lower division hun team was one of the worst results in our history.

Why does it always come down to comparing Lennon with Rodgers ?

There were plenty of people on here slating Rodgers signings and performances the last 18-24 months. Plenty of people pointed out that the more transfer windows he had, the worse our squad seemed to get. Of course, domestically, he done an unbelievable job. He still took a fair amount of criticism. However, I feel like the toys were out the pram for a large period of that time due to McGinn & Dembele, plus whatever else happened between him and Lawell.

You just can't compare the two though. Brendan Rodgers is a far higher calibre of manager and we should be aiming to keep that going. If Neil Lennon would accept another role at the club, that would be great but we should be aiming higher. That's not a dig at him as he's done some great things here but we need to be trying to move forward not backwards.

Let's hope whoever we do appoint is continuously backed throughout their tenure and not for a season or two then it starts falling apart, as usual.

    Rose was never achievable.

Despite the hate for the man now, we got Rodgers because he was out of work for an extended period and did have some affinity for the club.

There is no one we can get that is on Rodgers level.

Whilst employed, there ain't no manager in the English leagues that will come up here that would normally please fans.

We will either give it to Lennon, or it's going to somebody we know little about or we reach out for an unemployed manager of the level of Wagner.

We are being set up for a massive disappointment I fear.

Yet nearly 3 years down the line the snakes teams were made of of a majority of players from the previous 2 managers.
From Ronnie he got Armstrong(2 seasons), Boyata and Ajer

It's a big world out there. It goes beyond England.

There are plenty if managers out there that would be willing to take the job. It will come down to ambition and finances.

Who might that be that we can realistically attain? I don't see it, we had a moment in time when Rodgers was available. We do not have that luck now.

If it's not Lennon then it will be someone we know little about, it will be another Ronnie like Kenneth Andersen from FC Midtjylland or some such.

I don't see us getting anyone who is anything close to being a household name in any sense.

So what? It doesn’t have to be a household name.

Someone mentioned the Red Star Belgrade manager a few pages back. That’s the sort of manager we should be looking at.

Given this thread, people seem to be warming up to Benitez, Martinez or Biesla three people who are never coming here.

There has also been plenty of remarks about who a manager might be able to attract given their stature in the game as a manager so far which has even been aimed at Lennon if he is to be given the job full time.

To be honest, it's all speculation but if people want the likes of a benitez, martinez, AVB or biesla they will be bitterly disappointed. If nothing else, it's going to be interesting to see who gets the job.

    ROBERT-NO
Roberto Martinez NOT interested in Celtic job according to his agent
The Belgium boss emerged as odds-on favourite with bookmakers but his representative, Jesse De Preter, says the rumours are 'false'

ROBERTO MARTINEZ isn't interested in becoming the new Celtic manager, despite the flood of bets on him, according to his agent.

The boss of Belgium, who are ranked No.1 in the FIFA World Rankings, was the subject of a huge gamble this week to become next permanent Hoops boss.

His price to be next Celtic manager even dropped to odds-on following an avalanche of bets on him taking on the role in the summer.

However, Martinez's agent, Jesse De Preter, has urged Celtic fans not to get their hopes up that the former Everton boss is Glasgow-bound.

He said: "Roberto always seems to be on the shortlist as soon as there is a vacancy at a big club.

"But this is a false rumour about him going to Celtic.

"It seems to have come from the fact Roberto has a Scottish wife and he obviously has ties to the country.

"However, there's nothing to see here and I would suggest the bookies review their odds."

Really cant see it being a rafa or a martinez. I think it'll be lenny or at a push AVB as he is not currently in a job.

Good to see Lenny tops the vote on here.

He's probably done enough to secure the job so far, but I feel many of our fans won't be swayed until the treble is in the bag, even then some won't be happy if he's appointed.

    But the Jobs his IMO.

Why did people even bet on Martinez, why would you leave Belgium for Celtic unless you were a mental Celtic fan.
I'm taking this easy, don't expect anyone of note unless they are out of a job. So I know I won't be annoyed or disappointed.
At best it will be someone out of a job who seeks to redeem their name.

It is. Have a look through the threads: whenever people criticise Lennon, others reply with a list of extenuating circumstances that diminish Lennon's responsibility for his failings or absolve him entirely - without fail.

No, I am questioning why people who qualify Lennon's shortcomings fail to extend that courtesy to Rodgers or anyone else; I have little interest in defending Rodgers' failures, but I feel that is dishonest.

Every manager has to operate in less-than-ideal circumstances: Lennon is far from unique in that regard. We can either qualify every success and failure - for everyone - or we can accept that fact.

I agree, but I fear that our board is devoid of imagination.

Some people on here are dead against the idea of appointing a foreign manager because Deila failed to set the heather alight.
