Probably after Leeds’ final game of the season...

If a decision is made before the end of the season the person who made that decision should be sacked on the spot.

Even if it’s Pep Guardiola that’s coming in....

If it’s going to be Lennon then I’d expect it to be announced before the final.

If it’s not Lennon then after the final.

    (If we make it)

Lennon was unquestionably better than Rodgers in the transfer market. Complete no contest.

He definitely could've. Most lesser men would.

Taking over from our most successful manager domestically since Jock Stein, knowing that if he messed it up he would always be remembered as the man who lost the run for the 10...and also that keeping said run going was no guarantee he'd get the post in the long run.

That's before you get into the fact that he suffers from depression and in his last stint with us was the target of constant torrents of verbal & physical abuse and genuine attempts to take his life.

He owed us nothing. Stood to lose massively if he got it wrong but potentially gain very little even if he gets it right.

Getting the job full time is his goal, an achievable goal.. he was never turning that down if he wanted to stay in management .. even if he doesn’t get the job after wrapping up the treble, his profile will be on a different scale compared to when he left Hibs..

Absolute no brainer, for a man who loves the club too.

And what if Lennon already knows he isn't going to get the job?

If that's the case then this "interim" gig is a win/win for him - gets to manage us one last time, potentially oversee a double (adding to snake's league cup to make it a treble) and raise his profile again after leaving Hibs.

Fair * to him either way, but with £9m odds sitting in the bank for the compo package from Leicester, and seeing what SERIOUS investment into management set up can bring, well.....I for one want better than Lennon, and I believe the board do too...

Don’t find that a great barometer of success.

Lennon essentially had us regressing after his 5th window by that rationale. Brendan has left us with European football after Xmas and put a treble treble on a plate for us and it is somehow classed as some sort of failure.

His love of the club was never in doubt but I think there's an expectation that he should just take it and be grateful without fully appreciating the pain and sacrifice he and his family went through first time.

Imagine your wife and children having a panic button that connects straight to a police station in case some nutjob comes round in the middle of the night while you're at an away game.

Imagine not being able to walk down your local pub, go shopping or stand at your place of work without being physically attacked or being called a pape/*/tarrier/taig.

Imagine having to cautiously open your mail for fear of some lunatic having posted a bomb through your letterbox.

I'm Celtic through and through but I can't say with certainty I would walk straight back into that in those circumstances.

I respect his courage. He would, sadly, have had to consider more than his career before he accepted the offer.

He is fortunate though. Where would he have ended up after Hibernian? League One? League Two? A provincial Scottish club? He now has the chance to become the Celtic manager for a second time.

Aye, I get all that.. (and I’m not trying to belittle what he went through, I’m well aware of that.)

But it’s still mutually beneficial and a no brainier for him, in terms of his career in management.

It's a tough one as ideally we want to name whoever it is that will be taking the reigns next season, as quickly as possible..

We can't though as Lenny is probably still 'auditioning' and the acid test is the last game of our season, should we get there. If it isn't him, the board can't undermine or potentially hamper our road to the treble by announcing, or it being leaked that it will be someone other than Lenny..

Even McGregor was saying the other day that they want to know who it is that'll be leading them next year..

I read that as 'Ewan McGregor' two or three times, and was totally confused. I'm off to bed. :giggle1:

I'm agreeing. There's no doubt we are the biggest management job he would get at this time, I'm sure he'd agree that privately as well.

But in my opinion lesser men would accept that easy League 1 number and live a comfortable life with relative peace of mind for himself and family.

Each to their own mate, I find getting to the last 16 a terrific success for a club our size, just as I find Brendan’s domestic record pretty much unparalleled success.

Are you comparing Deila to Mowbray? I know Ronny had his flaws, such as being tactically naive and inflexible; but he was also a * good coach who laid some very good foundations that Brendan benefited from. People knock Ronny, but in no way did Brendan have an enormous rebuilding job on his hands.
