Same could be said about Scotland tho, not many European managers have made a successful fist of working in Scotland..

True. Only Wim who could be viewed as successful, but he left too early. I think the transition from Dutch to Scottish culture is easier than from Dutch to Turkish culture though.

I just can't see any available Scot, Irish or Englishman being good enough to manage us for the time being.

I don't understand this idea that a talented foreign manager with no experience of Scottish football would be a bigger risk than Lenny.

Remind me how we stopped the ten again?

    True mate.. :56:

Someone like that, or like the Holy Ghost at Wolves :50:

I don't want someone who is in awe of the setup left by the previous regime.. I want someone who will improve it..

What was interesting about the Biesla piece was West Ham came in for him and he asked what they wanted to achieve and they apparently said improve league position to come maybe 6th.. he apparently said what's the point in that, that is not ambition.. :56:. Love that.

We need someone with ambition but think we need a DOF, to help deliver the vision. And to ensure continuity between managers. Our ambition should be more than domestic dominance.

Bielsa would be a dream but our board wouldn’t have the balls to appoint him.

I said in another thread I think....that I'd like Lenny here as an assistant to someone more high profile..

You've got someone a level above, Lenny an ex manager here who has been taking the reigns for the last few month's and Kennedy who has been here throughout all..

I think it's unlikely but it's what I'd like to see happen. I don't think it undermines Lenny at all either. He's out of work and just been at lowly Hibs. Surely he must know that after the snake we might be going down a different route and for him (even in his own word's) just to be back here, is a success in itself..

Defo, crossed my mind too.. he would be an excellent assistant. TB was unique but he took the role with WGS.. I'm not sure Lenny would go for it tho and most coaches worth their salt, have an established coaching team.

He'll get Leeds up in any case I think.. wasn't saying him as a realistic shout. But that type of innovator and obsessive..

Which is why I think a DOF is just as important as the manager long term.

We should be getting top young coaches with different ideas into the youth system as well. Getting in the likes of Duff and McManus just screams a lack of imagination.

Don't think Lennon would take the assistant job at this time to be honest, he is his own man. He's either getting offered the top job or nothing IMO

It would depend who it was of course but it's something the board should have as a possible option..

If he doesn't it could be appealing to him.....although I think he'd have plenty of interest elsewhere..

I don’t see any way Lennon takes that at all mate and not sure I’d want that. Burns worked because he was an outstanding coach and got on with everyone.

I don’t see any manager worth their salt coming in and working with Lennon under them...

Aye agree 100%.. sometimes you get managers who don't want to work under a DOF but that has to be our blueprint.. if you look at Watford they have a high turnover of managers but it doesn't effect them as they have a solid plan, vision and structure.

We should be looking at a DOF and getting a plan for what style of play we want. Then go and get a chief scout/head of recruitment that will find players who fit into that and hire coaches who play that style of football.

Use some of the money in the bank to overhaul the whole system from top to bottom.
