So basically if we get him, we can look forward to more ripping teams apart domestically; but we're probably going to need to get the lubricant back out for Europe? Not sure how I feel about that TBH.

Just read a good insight into Marcelo Bielsa in 4-4-2, that's the type of manager I want an innovator who will live and sleep the job..

Avb is a * who openly offered salary mcmoist chelsea players in order to "turn things around" at sevco.

His record at porto was brilliant, and his record at zenit was decent too.

But his time at chelsea was a disaster, falling out with the cheif exec., abramovic and key players in the squad.

He made an absolute * of it at spurs where after they sold bale he spunked millions away on pish.

I would be very wary of this one.

He record in europe is excellent but i would question the temperment of an appointment like this.

Avb has been known to be a bit of an *. And as for his porto side... his attack would have devestated almost any defence in europe given the players at his disposal. Throw into the mix that hes almost a defensively retarded as the snake... im wary. Very wary.

Alot of people saying we need an innovator like Marcelo beisla but more often than not these innovators need time for their innovations to translate onto the pitch.

Maybe we need a man motivator who can keep the squad focused and together with just enough tactical nous to sit at a big boy table... like lenny. But so far, imo, lennys making an * of it.

Sarri could be looking for a job soon if we want ex Chelsea managers.

AVB is a no go I think.

Right now, I've seen nothing that convinces me we won't be getting an unknown like Ronnie. I don't think we will be getting anyone that the majority of fans have any clue over.

If we're going down the foreign route again eg. AVB or Bielsa then you need an experienced Scottish assistant that can build up an affinity with the players. Good cop, bad cop is what you're after.

    Welcome home, John Collins :ynwacelti

I think Rafa Benitez is far fetched. He could probably get a job at any top club bar Juve in Italy and definitely a decent club in Spain. Any top club in Portugal would have him and maybe decent clubs in Germany. He could go to China or even Russia if he fancies big money. He loves the PL and England though- he only went to Newcastle because no other PL clubs were approaching him and he probably felt he could make the PL with promotion in the Championship. In essence I believe he will have lots of offers of which we will be a good bit down the list. Marco Rose will make the transition to German football and be in high demand. Roberto Martinez will surely fancy a crack at winning the Euros. Here are the 3 I believe we could realistically hire and in order of preference.

    1) Andre Villas Boas: Out of the game 18 months now so bit of a risk but has a very good CV and likes to play attacking football. Did great at Porto. Did well at Zenit. Did decent at Spurs until it derailed although Chelsea was a disaster. Excellent European record as well. If he is looking to return to management it would be a huge statement to get him. Can it be done? We will have to wait and see. If it is it will be Dermot Desmond's man.

    2) Philip Cocu: 3 Dutch titles and a Dutch cup with PSV and a firm advocate of 4-3-3 he would be risky but potentially brilliant. Had a rough time at Fenerbahce but the way they are going it wouldn't matter who was in charge. He had a good record with youth at PSV as well and overhauled their squad when he took over.

    3) Neil Lennon: If he wins the treble the other two names are obsolete. Did a brilliant job in his previous spell here after taking over from the disastrous Mowbray. Won leagues and cups. Qualified for the Champions league and one last 16. Brought back the thunder without a doubt. Made some brilliant signings and made the club some huge profits. Keeping the show on the road at the minute but pretty low key and uninspiring which is causing fans some angst. I think he is doing well in difficult circumstances. He would be 3rd on my list basically due to his personal issues. He lived a life when manager before that would have led anyone else to take a breakdown. I don't know if its fair to put the man potentially in that position again. As I say though- he wins the treble the job is his.

It will be Lennon/Moyes/Coyle/Lambert or Clarke. These other names mentioned above are laughable, why would the Leeds manager come and manage in the SPFL? Benitez?? he would never come to scottish football, wake up people. I will be shocked if it's not Lennon or Clarke in the Parkhead dugout next season.

Lenny needs to go undefeated to the end of the season to have earned the job on results, in my opinion.

Hope not, don’t want him near us, only thing he really done was at Porto nothing else for me.

Always went to teams with money, he would be expensive knows * all really about our game and would play right into the filths hands in stopping the 10.

Lads there is absolutely * zero chance of Rafa, Bielsa, Howe, coming to us, its okay to dream but people need to get realistic. We are a huge club and we dwarf Newcastle, Leeds, Bournemouth ect but we play in Scotland and the Scottish league is seen as * * down in England even to managers hence why * like Moyes and Pardew are coming out declaring interest in our job and not anyone better.

The only managers who will touch us are ones from Europe looking to win a few titles work for a big club few games in Europe ect then make a break into the English league ( so cocu isn't going to leave his native PSV to come manage in Scotland), Ex players/fans of ours or managers from England looking to rebuild there reputation, Rodgers falls into two of those categories. Why would Rafa Benitez a man who could walk into a top 6 job at most clubs in Europe come to us? We can offer him * all in wage 50k a week is peanuts to him, we can offer him maybe 6 champions league/Europa league games the vast majority we will get beat in because regardless of how big we are our board spend * all, even if he is on peanuts at Newcastle he can attract decent names there which we simply cant and our board aint exactly generous with money and peanuts to Newcastle still dwarfs our budget, and of course he will probably get a couple of league titles but this bloke has won the Champions league, Uefa Cup, FA Cup, Spanish league its not as if adding a * SPL trophy to his name is something he will be after. The same applys for Bielsa and Eddie Howe they are both managers who could walk into jobs much better financially than ours and that to most managers is the be all and end all because we play in Scotland and we just cannot compete financially with other clubs, winning titles is great but to most managers/players ect the premier league is the holy grail and thy ain't leaving England to come to Scotland.

I'd like a europearn manager someone from abroad to try take us further in Europe and play nice footy but we won't be getting cream of the crop we will Be getting someone the same ilk of the players we sign, a project or someone looking to rebuild their carrear and move on.

    Cocu is a good shout.

Foreign managers seldom succeeds in Turkey. I don't know why, but my guess is that the cultural differences is too much for a foreigner to handle. Also Fenerbahce has a total debt currently at €600m according to an article I read. Everywhere else in the world this would have led to bankruptcy, but Erdogans government keeps them alive by looking away. Wouldn't surprise me if UEFA comes down on them hard this summer with the FFP.

Agree with this except Cocu. He is unemployed at the minute and Celtic could be a good fit for him.
