Wasn't so long ago I got dogs abuse on here for stating Lennon wasn't the man to take us forward. I'm sorry to say the games he's taken charge off in the short term isn't selling himself to me.

Think we all love Lenny as a person and as as a former Celt, but this is another example of why folk shouldnt get a second chance (good or bad).

The manner in which we finish the season would be unimportant if Lennon were merely an interim manager, but he is the prospective manager for our nine-in-a-row season, despite the fact that he has accomplished nothing of note in years, and that his managerial record overall is patchy.

Of course, people have exacting standards: our next managerial appointment will be one of the biggest decisions in our history. There is no room for sentiment.

No manager inherits his ideal squad in an ideal situation. (Lennon is more fortunate than most managers in that regard.)

Lennon is responsible for his team. If his team wins the treble, we will all sing his praises; if his team plays scintillating football for the rest of the season, we will laud him. Why, then, is he beyond reproach when his team underperforms?

I'm not convinced Lennon should get the job after the summer.

My thoughts also took the words right out my mouth . The players haven’t responded the way I thought they would have under Lennon . Don’t know what it is it could be a few things. I understand there is a transition period but I really thought the game last week would have been the motivation the team needed for the final stretch of the season.

Lennon had a very good transfer record during his time in charge and I can’t help but think what if he does get the job, makes the signings he wants, the players that suit his style of play and firmly puts his mark on the team? For me Edouard doesn’t suit his style of play. We also need griff back so maybe would be looking at this whole situation differently? Who knows .

It’s so close to the ten now the board need to make the right decision in who they bring in . The pressure is on us and imo it’s ours to loose. The board must back the next manager to make a big statement too long have we been crying out for players in certain areas on the pitch.

If he gets the job I’ll be behind him and the team.

Who says he's beyond reproach if the team under preforms? I've seen many Celtic fans including myself say the performances under him have been fairly * and he needs to up his game if he wants the job full time.. personally I'd prefer someone else but knowing our board hrs an absolute cert(cheap option) so we better get used to it.

Lennon will forever be a Celtic great and we will honour him when we do the treble treble but he's had his time now.

His football last few weeks has been horrendous. Saying that I would rather him over some sort of foreign manager gamble

So you dont want Lennon and you don't want a foreigner.... Moyes or Coyle then yeah ?

Let's appoint the best and most impressive candidate. The likelihood is he won't be British or Irish, there is a whole continent of football managers we should be searching.
Rose, Benitez, Wenger, Wagner. These are the types I want linked.

Should have stated a manager with no experience of managing in Britain sorry.

I've said before foreign managers can really struggle to get to grips with the Scottish game.

Yes he's a hun but remember Barry Ferguson in an interview saying Le Guen being satisfied with points away from home as that's their culture .Not on for me sorry.

Need a British manager or a foreigner who's had some degree of success in Britain

Didn't we draw against both st.mirren and Livingston this seasonseason Brendan. Don't remember everyone wanting him out?

Lennon still has my backing. Again the conditions for his return has been far from ideal. Still he is getting on with it. Unbeaten still, beat the Huns, increased our gap at the top of the table and still on course for the treble. All with a team and system he hasn't picked.

The football hasn't been the best to watch, but that has been a theme of the season. Not since Lennon come back. The draws against Livingston and st.mirren prior to Lennon coming home backs that up with facts. Give Lennon time to make the team his own again.

It's a bit much to blame Neil for what we're watching, the whole season has been much the same. Whoever gets the job is going to have to rebuild a squad, not something big name managers enjoy, unless they have almost unlimited funds. I think Neil is likely to be there next season but maybe Steve Clark could be asked the big question, I know he has suggested he'd not take it, but I wonder?

Some of these posts are getting a bit hysterical. Anyone reading this thread who hadn't seen us play this season would be forgiven for thinking the football must have been scintillating under Rodgers and there had been a massive drop off under Lenny.

Don't misunderstand me, not all of his critics are hysterical, there are some fair posts too. The second half today was a little worrying. For the first time today he tried to change things a little from Rodgers' blueprint and it didn't work. Also, as others have said, next week (and hopefully the final) will be the acid test.

Although I understand some of the concerns, there are a few things that I feel should be taken into account:

    1) It takes time to change a playing style. He really does deserve time to do that.
    2) Talk of him being a dinosaur based on a few comments from Hibs players should be treated with caution. Lenny's record at Hibs speaks for itself, the new guy has been in the job 5 minutes and it is well known that more went on there than meets the eye.
    2) The injury list has been horrendous and even now key players like Rogic, KT, Benkovic and Christie are not fit. They are shadows of their usual selves.
    3) Late winners or not, he has got the job done in the key games since taking over. People are right to point out that Rodgers was able to do that even when his team were not playng well; but so far, so has Lenny.
    4) Candidates like Benitez or Wenger... I don't think they would come... happy to be proved wrong.

For me he wasn't great yesterday, but overall the jury is still out.

This bit in bold is the best example of the kind of post I am talking about. There is literally no evidence for any of this. It's what scientists call a just-so story. I could literally say, with just as much evidence (i.e. zero) that aliens are manipulating their brains or they are all "mentally and emotionally exhausted" because Lawwell is making them do unspeakable things to each other while he watches or that Rodgers is using voodoo to * us over to make his own record look good or any number of ridiculous ideas.

Of course, you could rightly get all Bayesian and point out that the base (a priori) probability of these things is vanishingly low; but then I would just point out that so is the a priori probability of Neil Francis Lennon not giving 100% for Celtic Football Club.

Beat and bullied off Hearts ,Hibs ,Huns and Kilmarnock too.
If it's not Lennon then it will be Clarke or Moyes.
Two dour faced * that I doubt could handle the pressure of the job.
Not exactly known for there entertaining football.

Moyes is one manager I'd be utterly disappointed in. He honestly destroyed man utd, and every club he has touched since. * that. Benitez for me.

People saying they want Rafa Benitez don’t know that his family have settled on the Wirral, he constantly travels back from Newcastle.

He done the same when he got the jobs in Spain and Italy his heart wasn’t fully into it, I don’t want that in our next manager who’s heart and soul are not in the job because of his family are 100’s of miles away.

Granted it’s around a 4 and a half hour journey in the car but it will make a difference.

Like others I really love Lennon but I don’t think he should get the job full time.

Amazing that he stepped in but let’s face it he had nothing to lose either cause of what happened at Hibs.

Rose would be ideal for me but I can’t see that happening because Lawwell will appoint the cheap option and that will be Lennon and give him a rolling one year contract.

If Lennon ends up with the treble then Lennons appointment is a given, if we don’t I can still see Lawwell appointing him anyway.

Be realistic mate. It will be Moyes or Clarke If it's not Lennon and people should be very careful what they wish for.

Lennon is safe enough bet, his team played great until it got tore apart. I still mind commons ripping the huns up apart, set pieces to die for. Hes even said himself hes no changed a thing yet.

Realistic, if its Moyes gets it imo hes so dour, * and up his own * he will loose us the 10.
