If Lenny wins the treble he’ll get it, and rightly so.. so as I want to the win treble I guess I want him to get it..

Most media outlets said he was on the shortlist, maybe his agents.. but it does show he hasn’t gone unnoticed and is unlikely to come to Scotland.

Lennon’s career has been on a downward trajectory since his 3rd season though.

If we had a good DOF and actually had a vision in place for the club then we’d have a better chance of finding the next Klopp. Instead of a guy sacked by Bolton and punted from Hibs having left them in 8th.

We need to appoint the best manager we can possibly get, the question is, is that Lenny ?

When the heart of your team is ripped out and you are given a pittance of the profits you achieve to replace it then it is to be expected.

Interestingly we won the league by 29 points that year scoring 102 goals and a plus 77 goal difference. Not bad for a downward trajectory

I doubt that the board is working day and night to find managerial candidates; it might throw a few names in the hat if Lennon fails to win the cup, but I expect Lennon to get the job, barring disaster.

I wasn't having go JC. I think Lenny has done brilliant with our results so far. We have two games that really matter now and that is what Lenny will be judged on. I think like you (sorry for the assumption) I am not against someone else coming in, however if we go down that route they have to come in and hit the ground running as we can't afford any passengers just because they have a good rep on the internet.

Not at all mate, it’s right that it’s debated properly..

I share a lot of the concerns mentioned.. and I fear he won’t be properly backed too. Having someone who demands backing may be better, but that can also lead to unrealistic demands and subsequent friction with the board.

If he puts himself in a position to get the job then I’ll be happy, not sure he’s there yet..

I think lennon would be a step back, and I'm not confident he can get us playing good football. But I really dont know who the alternative is.

NEIL Lennon is hoping to be given the job of revamping the Celtic team in the summer, and if given the nod, he says he will build his side around captain Scott Brown.

Lennon has won four of his first five games as interim manager, reaching the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and opening up a 13-point lead at the top of the Premiership with Sunday’s victory over Rangers.

Despite that instant success, Lennon believes that an overhaul of the Celtic team will be required in the close-season, but Brown’s importance to the club means that he will be at the heart of it.

The Celtic captain was at the centre of controversy in the Old Firm match at the weekend, being on the receiving end of an elbow from Alfredo Morelos that saw the Rangers striker sent off, being struck on the face by Ryan Kent, and then being involved in a fracas with Andy Halliday after angering his opponent by celebrating in front of the away end at the final whistle.

But when asked if he would build his team around Brown, Lennon said: “Absolutely. He is so integral to this club and this dressing room, on and off the field. He’s still fit as a fiddle.

“He is very experienced, he knows the psychology of these big games more than anybody, so you just leave him to it.

“If he walks on a tight line, then so be it. Some of us did. He knows the boundaries to work in and he played brilliantly again on Sunday. He is a great captain, a great leader and in games like that you really need him.

“I am really glad for everyone [he stayed], but for him especially. He has settled down and is playing some great football at the minute.

Two or three months ago, there was all this self-doubt, all this uncertainty about his future. You could see that in his performances as well.”

He continued: “It is a rebuilding job [here]. No question about that. There is a lot of work that needs to be done.

“Hopefully, with the lead that we have, we can start to plan a little bit more and be a little more forceful on it.

It was a rebuild [in 2005] and I think we need a bit of rebuild again. It is reminiscent.”

Lennon has so far resisted the urge to make sweeping changes to the set-up that worked so well for predecessor Brendan Rodgers, and while it is still getting results for the champions, Lennon hinted there are aspects of their play that have persuaded him changes are required over the longer term.

“It’s difficult,” he said. “I haven’t done it. I’ve just been softly softly.

“During the [Rangers] game, I was thinking: If this ends up 1-1, I am going to be changing a lot of things. Or doing a lot more things my way.

“But we got over the line. Maybe we can implement a bit more of what I want to do and how I want to play going into the final games, but there’s nothing really broken, so not much to fix.

“It’s really difficult [balancing act]. It’s a style of play that they are used to and it’s a different style of play from what I’ve been used to. However, it works, and you can’t change it overnight, anyway.

“You can implement little things, but there were aspects of the game on Sunday in the second-half that I wasn’t happy with in terms of managing the game. We should have done that a lot better.”

The way Lenny is talking he is getting the job! One thing is for sure I don’t agree with it but by * he will sign a few decent defenders 100%

Yet he was still given more than the rest of Scottish football combined and got punted out of both cups at home to Morton and Aberdeen. And we were absolutely embarrassing in the CL as well.

After we got put out the cups and Europe he tried his hardest to get an unbeaten season for his C.V instead of giving the youth players a run in meaningless games.

He knew he’d * up and tried to hide it with the unbeaten run.

Ironically The Snake ended up taking us the whole season undefeated domestically with Ronny Deila’s team aside from a couple of players.

    Aye that's a bit worrying.

Brown still has plenty to offer, but you don't build a team around someone of his age.

I think he's making a point of defending brown and pointing out how good he is in the face of the unfair criticism he's getting after Sunday.

That's a positive for me with lennon that he'll not stay silent when he sees an injustice. You seem to have a right downer on him.

Aye because you know exactly what goes on his mind. Your getting ridiculous now.

Lost 2 cup games but the season before you can spout don't judge him on 1 or 2 results. I'd rather the Barca win and the first CL away victory over those 2 cup wins anyway.

An embarrassment in the CL would be not even qualifying for it like a certain manager high on everyone's list to replace Lenny. Lets prioritize doing well in the league cup over qualifying for the CL. Who wants to play real Real, PSG Bayern etc. when we can play Aberdeen at Hampden and Getafe or Deportivo in Europa

People need to realise this when they are critical in the way we are playing.

I think we will be playing much more fast and direct when he can implement his style of play.

Hopefully back to two up front in most games too. I know he prefers that and changes formations and styles depending on our level of opposition. Unlike our last manager.

It was obvious. Plenty of fans were calling him out for it and knew exactly what he was doing.

People aren’t judging Lennon’s cup record over one season. We were * awful at Hampden under him. His last 2 seasons he was our manager when we had our weakest challenge in our history and his cup record was still shocking.

People who seem to think he’s the man for the job keep coming back to one thing though, we beat Barcelona. No mention of one of the worst Milan teams ever pumping us at home, a cringeworthy performance away to Ajax where we couldn’t pass the ball 5 yards etc.

If he wasn’t Neil Lennon then I doubt any fan would actually seriously want him as manager. Especially as since he left us he’s been punted from Bolton and Hibs. The same Hibs he had in 8th are absolutely flying now under a guy no one has ever heard of.

The idea that with £50/60m in the bank, including a huge amount of wages being freed up with players out of contract and loans ending, the height of our supports ambition is Lennon tells me our support are happy to accept mediocrity as long as they’ve got a ‘Celtic man’ in charge.

I think by changing things he means going 3 at the back. He probably wanted to do it at HT against the huns but probably never as most people see it as a defensive move. I thought about it at the game if we would. Going 3 at the back against 10 men especially with a lead pretty much ensures the win as they'd have close to no chance of scoring on the break against 3 centre-backs.

If I was our manager i'd play 3 at the back.

So plenty of fans are saying he is the best man for the job so it must be true.

Cringeworthy away performances were par for the course before Neil raised the bar with the away win finally coming. Even Rosenberg beat a much stronger Celtic team under MON. Ironically you want to replace bad CL performances with a man who cannot get what is generally believed stronger team into the group phase. I'd rather watch us struggle to beat the big boys than wallow in the glory of beating the small fry.

Give me 3 CL games at Celtic park against the cream of world football over 2 games and Hampden over the likes of Killie, Hearts or Motherwell every season.
