I know. I have acknowledged his qualities elsewhere. I'm just fighting my corner, there.

We can attain a better manager than Lennon, and that's the long and short of it for me.

Really don't get the second point Vert. What "period of unprecedented dominance" are you talking about that covers 10 cups? Are you being fair or just trying to make things fit your agenda again. Lenny now will have come in and won 1 or 2 trophies out of 2. 1/2 more than Rose will have won at Celtic and that is just a fact.(I am not anti-Rose I just can't see that his fans really appreciate the intricacies/limitations of the SPFL)

As I say you are totally entitled to have your views on Lenny or Rose I just can't see how you think your views are going to win anybody over the way you are presenting them.

That's fair enough. I think we are just disagreeing on the "better" bit. We certainly could get a higher profile manager. Whether that would be "better" for Celtic though I am not quite sure. If they come in and get frustrated/ disillusioned with the SPFL and * off and leave us in a mess how far does that set us back? Yes that is a totally hypothetical point of view, however these things have to be taken into consideration.

I think Lennon's underrated as a gaffer but I don't want him in the dugout next year. Backwards steps are rarely successful.

We should go for a top foreign coach. Honestly have no idea who but if the board and their million+ bonuses can't find a quality manager with good Euro experience, (Bielsa off the top of my head) then the game's a bogey.

I'm not expecting Mourinho or Klopp but we pushed the boat out financially for Rodgers without actually showing ambition. He was an out of work Irish manager who had a Celtic background, like virtually every other manager in our history. Deila didn't work but I want us down that type of road again, this time with more experience and trophies on the CV.

    Here's Lennon's cup record:

    2009-10 Scottish Cup
    2010-11 League Cup
    2010-11 Scottish Cup
    2011-12 League Cup
    2011-12 Scottish Cup
    2012-13 League Cup
    2012-13 Scottish Cup
    2013-14 League Cup
    2013-14 Scottish Cup
    2018-19 Scottish Cup?

I have never belittled and will never belittle our achievements over the past decade or so: it is a matter of fact that we have been the best team in the country by some distance during that period. I think that with the resources that he had at his disposal, Lennon could and should have won more cups, regardless of the opposition.

I don't expect anyone to replicate Rodgers' form, but he laid down a marker. Lennon's record falls some way short.

    Fair enough.

Fair enough. What is our period of domestic dominance though Vert ? When does it start ? If we are talking about Rangers dying then do we no have to take some of those out of it ? I am no trying to be difficult for the sake of it, however it was you talked about folk being selective so if we are not going to be selective about Lenny's positives we can't also be selective about his negatives.

Not even talking about how big a backward step and lack of ambition it’d be, his football is * awful.

I guess that this era began with the 2011-12 season.

Our odds improved a bit with Rangers' death, but we were more than capable of challenging for every one of those cups.

Rangers only won one cup during Lennon's reign.

    Here are the winners:

    2009-10 Scottish Cup: Dundee United
    2010-11 League Cup: Rangers
    2010-11 Scottish Cup: Celtic
    2011-12 League Cup: Kilmarnock
2011-12 Scottish Cup: Heart of Midlothian

Judging Lenny for the totality of his first four years is unfair. Do we look back on McGregors formative years and judge him not good enough to play for us partly based on them. A rookie manager taking over such a mess should be given 2 years to get himself experience and turn the team around. Where he has us in year 3 is impressive when you take this into account.

How do we reward this achievement? Rip the team apart and expect him to do it again

    Our odds definitely increased.

Were Salzburg "more than capable" of challenging for the group stages in every one of those seasons where Rose had a 0% record of achieving that ?

Would be a good arguement but Lennon’s last season he got us knocked out the both cups at home to Aberdeen and * Morton.

If McGregor started playing * he’d be dropped or we’d buy a replacement.

    It’s a ridiculous comparison.

Of course. His failure to reach the Champions League proper is a valid criticism (although he has been successful in European competition).

Rose is one name. I want the board to conduct a thorough search for a new permanent manager. If Lennon is the standout candidate, fair enough. I suspect that there are better managers available (however one wishes to quantify their managerial abilities).

Everyone saying an outsider is a gamble in handling the pressure of leading us to the 10, but what about Lenny and what he will have to endure, being one of us he’ll feel it all the more. This can be both priceless and a hinderance..

We may need clinical, dispassionate, efficient decision making to cut through the hype that’s going to come.

Rose is probably beyond our reach anyway.. was tipped for Man U when Mourinho was sacked. I’m sure the EPL will come knocking, or Germany..

No it’s not. Do you not believe there’s a learning curve for a manager. Why not just go out and find some rookie who’ll be the next Klopp
