Thankfully he's back playing but nowhere near his 'A' game so far......I'm sure he'll get there though unlike some others in our team right now.

He is so far away from his best it is scary. He looks as if he is playing in pain or in fear of pain. Walking on eggshells most of that second half. Jonny Hayes showed how easy it was to get by your man and get crosses in from the left. Tierney is struggling.

Hayes had the benefit of the change of shape as well, made the pitch much wider for us.

Watching one of the Lenny interviews earlier he said KT has been carrying an injury, now reading on bbc that Robertson has not travelled to Kazakhstan as he has been advised to get a dental op.

Bullshit and I hope KT pulls out, boy is not fit and shouldn't need to cover for a dental op "Aye right"

Wait, our national team captain is missing the beginning of a qualifying campaign for a dentist appointment? Jesus Christ, I’ve heard it all now.

Definitely agree regarding Tierney. If he’s carrying a knock then he shouldn’t be travelling. Having heard Lennon’s post-match comments yesterday, I think/hope he was paving the way for a withdrawal.

Celtic star Kieran Tierney could be OUT of Scotland clash: Medics to make assessment today

CELTIC star Kieran Tierney could be ruled OUT of Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifier away to Kazakhstan this week.

Tierney looked a shoo-in to play in Astana, with captain Andy Robertson set to miss out after surgery on a dental problem.

However the Celtic man could yet miss the Euro opener for Alex McLeish’s side.

Starsport understands Scotland physios may rule him out of playing due to concerns over playing on the plastic pitch put up the hosts

The Scots will train on the surface in Astana today and the medical side will then make a judgement whether Tierney can play.

In a boost to boss McLeish, skipper Robertson could yet play in the match.

The Liverpool defender didn’t travel with his team-mates on Sunday after undergoing emergency surgery on a tooth abssess.

But there is hope he could still jet out to Kazakhstan in time for Thursday’s game.

An SFA spokesman said: “We haven’t given up hope of Andy making it but he needs more time to settle back down after the operation before a call is made.”

The news of Tierney's potential absence comes as

Scotland number two Peter Grant added: “He is desperate to play and is still trying to get himself back out here. That’s the way Andy Robertson is, that’s why the manager selected him to be his captain, because he is determined to play for his country.

“He wanted to come out Sunday night. He showed that flying up straight after the game, how desperate he was to be here, but when he got checked out it wasn’t possible.

“If it was anybody but Andy Robertson you would say there’s no chance.

“But knowing the way Andy is, if he thinks he’s got a chance there is always a possibility. We won’t rule him out.”

McLeish has previously claimed a plastic pitch Tierney played on for Celtic had caused him an injury.

Speaking in November last year after the full-back played for his club away at Livingston just days before a key Scotland clash, he said: "He had a tightness in his leg, his hamstring. There was no doubt about it, you can't mess about with these things.

"Right away, he flagged it up this morning. He nursed it over the week.

"We all thought it was due to the fact Celtic played on astroturf last week. There was a bit of tightness with all the Celtic guys playing on different surfaces

While I'd welcome him not playing, he should never have flown out to beign with.

The good thing about KT and Robertson is we have 2 players desperate to play for their country and that can only be a good thing for the future.

He’s been poor since returning. But he was out for a long time and the team is playing pretty bad so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt

SOCIAL media had Kieran Tierney down as Scottish football’s equivalent to Andy Murray.

Only not in a good way.

Injured with a pelvic problem, the Celtic star was rumoured online to be facing surgery to save his career.

Too much running around had caught up with him, it was said.

Too many games for a boy of his age meant the prodigy supposedly needed to go under the knife for a hip op. Just like Sir Andy.

But Twitter’s tittle-tattle, predictably, was wrong.

Tierney faced ten weeks out, sure, but it was rest and recuperation that was required to get him back up on his feet again and starring for club and country.

Now he is back in the Scotland squad and set to start against Kazakhstan here in Astana, despite sitting out training.

And Tierney can at least laugh now at the nonsense he read about himself.

He said: “I never came out and said that I had a hip injury.

“But, apparently, I was going for a hip operation and it was the same one Andy Murray had.

“It’s funny how things grow arms and legs, with people saying one thing which leads to another.

“You don’t believe everything you read.

“The Celtic fans were always with me, asking, ‘When you are you back?’

“They really cared and that makes you feel wanted as well.

“It was unfortunate for me that I had ten weeks out, but that’s football.’

“It was always just rest I needed. There is nothing you can do for the problem other than rest.

“There is no operation that would have been helpful in any way for it. It was just overused and the ten weeks did me the world of good.

“Today I actually feel all right with it. It’s perfect.

“Maybe next season with all those games so tight together again it could feel a bit achy.

“But it’s nothing likely to affect me in the long-term.

“Walking around was fine, but I just couldn’t play to my full capacity.

“When you are at Celtic, you need to be able to do that.

“And in the left-back position as well, you need to be able to get up and down the pitch for 90 minutes.

“If I can’t do that, then that’s a big chunk of my game missing. You don’t want that.

“There were ways that I could maybe have battled through a game or two.

“But battling through ten weeks of pain like that wouldn’t have been good for anyone.”

Tierney is from the social media generation, where rumours are often unchecked and unquestioned, then perceived as facts.

It does no one any good. Least of all those involved who are left to set the record straight time and again.

Tierney added: “I find it funny. My mates always send me rumours and stuff that’s flying around about me. I don’t know where some of it comes from.

“You just take everything with a pinch of salt.

“You just need to get on with your work and stay quiet. What happens, happens.

“Injuries happen, defeats happen, wins happen — anything can happen in football.

“So you just need to keep everything maintained at the same level and make sure you don’t get too high or too low.

“You need to stay positive throughout everything.

“I’m not on social media as much as some people. I have accounts, like Twitter and Instagram, but I’m not too big on it.

“The way I spend my time is on PlayStation.

“Social media can be good and it can be bad. It just depends on what you want to use it for.

“Jonny Hayes puts up pictures of his new Asics trainers every day, while Broony comes back with something else. That’s good.

“It also lets you communicate with people as well.

“I have relationships with people like singer Jake Bugg and Conor McGregor, who I met through social media.”

Tierney is working harder than ever on his game.

There was certainly no slacking off during the weeks he spent on the sidelines.

He added: “I would go in training early at 8am and stay until 4pm or 5pm every day.

“You just do everything you can. Upper body, core, on the bike. I did a lot of bike work.

“They were long days. I wouldn’t say enjoyable, but you are injured, so you are making the most of the time to get better in other areas, trying to extract positives from the situation.

“But the rest benefited me 100 per cent, mentally and physically. It was probably a good thing for the long-term.”

If nothing else, it gave Tierney a chance to watch Celtic in amongst the supporters.

He grinned and added: “I don’t think I missed a game.

“Every season, if I’ve had an injury or a knock, I have tried to go to every game to support the team as much as I can.

“Before the game and at half-time, a few people want pictures.

“But during the game you are just like anyone else. You just want Celtic to win.

“I go with mates I used to go with when I was younger.

“It’s a good feeling being able to go back with them.

“When there is a negative, like having an injury, the positive is being able to pop back to games and supporting Celtic.

“You do everything you can to stay happy and positive. That’s something I’m good at.”

KIERAN TIERNEY has revealed UFC megastar Conor McGregor helped him through his injury agony.

Celtic and Scotland star KT told how his hero passed on exercise and fitness tips during his three months out with a pelvic problem.

Tierney, set to face Kazakhstan, said: “Throughout my injury Conor McGregor was brilliant with me.

"He has a programme he does on the Watt Bike that helped him get fit, and he was giving me tips on that, which was great.

“Conor’s my biggest hero outside of football so it was amazing.”

It had been feared Tierney might be unable to feature in Scotland’s Euro 2020 opener because of the plastic pitch.

But although he didn’t train on Tuesday, it’s understood boss Alex McLeish is confident the full back will be able to start in Astana on Thursday.

KT revealed the tips from Irish icon McGregor helped bolster his recovery.

He added: “I was doing work with the Celtic physios anyway, but I found out what Conor’s programme was on the bike, and had a look to see if it was similar.

“I was still doing Celtic’s programme but the tips from Conor helped too. I don’t know how my results compared to his, but it was pretty good.

“It was just brilliant to hear from him. When you are injured you always feel a bit lower than usual, because you are not out on the pitch training with everyone.

“So to hear from your hero and get advice from him lifted me that wee bit.

“We got in touch through social media. Conor then came over to Glasgow for a question-and-answer session, and I got talking to his mates who said he’d love one of my Celtic jerseys.

“I sent a few over for him and his mates, and the next thing I know he sent me a message saying thanks, and posted a photo on Instagram.

“I’m a massive fan of his. I love the way he talks about positivity.

“It’s about mindset and how you react to people doubting you, and how to come back from defeats. Any athlete can relate to him.”

Tierney, a boyhood Celtic supporter who grew up in Wishaw, attended all of the double treble winners’ matches during his lengthy recovery from a pelvic injury and has appreciated the encouragement from his fellow supporters.

“I don’t think I missed a game,” he said. “Every time if I’ve had an injury or a knock I have tried to go to every game to support the team as much as I can.

Before the game and at half-time a few people want pictures. During the game you are just like anyone else. You just want Celtic to win. I just go with mates I used to go with when I was younger.

“It’s a good feeling being able to go back with them and when there is a negative like an injury the positive is going back to games and supporting Celtic. You do everything you can to stay happy and positive. That’s something I’m good at.

“The Celtic fans were always asking ‘when you are you back?’ They really cared and that makes you feel wanted as well.”

Tierney revealed that he wasn't idle during his two months out.

“I would go in training early at 8am and stay till 4pm or 5pm every day," he said. "You just do everything you can; upper body, core, on the bike a lot. I did a lot of bike work.

"They were long days. I wouldn’t say enjoyable, but you are injured, so you are making the most of the time to get better in other areas, trying to extract positives from the situation.”

He needs managed better, it's clear he starts limping and moving awkwardly near the end of games and has done for about 2 year. He can't be playing 70 games a year all the time, should be rested as often as possible in home League games while we continue to reach Group Stage European football and Cup finals every season.

Since he came back from being out he's just been flung right in to every game again and doesn't look fit.

I wouldn't play him in any of the home games the rest of the season except the huns. Will allow him to heal better and be pain free when playing the next game, rather than playing through pain as our players don't even get proper time off in the summer to properly heal.

Glad to read Notorious' postive post, with mnay direct quotes from KT.

Going forward he needs managing. He's a young lad who will want to play every week, but Lenny must look after him. When you have a talent like KT in the squad, one who could develop into an all-time great, it must be a temptation to play him every second of every game, but Lenny neds to ensure that KT is still playing top class football in 15 years time by rotating him, and teaching him how to rest his body effectively.

thats down to poor recruitment in my opinion thats caused him to be playing so many games

Izzaguire is absolutley terrible and so unreliable , hayes has come in since Jan and helped but better back up would be required for him to be rested

For me Hayes showed in the games he played since the turn of the year that he is more then capable to play as a back up to Tierney and to allow Tierney to be given some games off going forward which is clearly what needs to happen. The lad has simply played too many games the past few seasons. Clearly going forward Tierney needs to be managed better in terms of his game time and given some breaks regardless of injury.
No question he looked like he was struggling in the second half on Sunday so no way should be be playing for Scotland especially on a plastic pitch as well. Should not have even travelled IMHO.

Kt should be rested after the hun game for the rest of the season imo.

The snake ran him into the ground for 2 and a half years, coupled with zero cover.

He played more games thsn ANY other player in EUROPE in 2017/18.

Add on no real recuperation at seasons end and we have a real issue.

Hayes, surprisingly, is performing very well in the position and we have izzy for cover until the end of the year.

The kid needs a break ffs. Otherwise i truly believe his future or maybe even his career could be in danger.
