Can’t wait to see Celtic actually defend properly in certain contexts instead of being ideologically married to playing out the back.

Yeah will be interesting to see how he sets the team up? He knows most of the players very well.

First spell was 1978 to 1983 and left to manage Man City because the old board were * and then came back in 1987 and got sacked in 1991.

Imagine the pressure on him going into this Hibs game.. must be unreal.

Just in the door and defending the treble against his ex team on his old stomping ground.

    Baws of steel.

He's a proven hun skelper who loves the club and can fire his players up for big games and he can actually defend!

    Let's get behind him

Behind him 100% till the summer, if he wins 2 trophies then probably gets the job.

Neil Lennon has agreed to return to Celtic as interim manager, assuming Brendan Rodgers completes his move to Leicester City.

Lennon will take charge until the end of the season, but is a strong candidate to take the role permanently.

Neil Lennon has agreed to return to Celtic as interim manager, assuming Brendan Rodgers completes his move to Leicester City.

Lennon will take charge until the end of the season, but is a strong candidate to take the role permanently.

He could be in the dugout for Wednesday's Scottish Premiership game against Hearts at Tynecastle.

"We're still waiting on hearing back from Leicester," Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell told reporters.

"Brendan is down there at the moment and I think they have a few things to sort out."

Leicester City made their approach for Rodgers on Sunday, and the former Liverpool and Swansea manager was keen to speak to the Premier League club once compensation terms were agreed.

Former midfielder Lennon made 214 appearances for the club in a seven-year spell before leaving in 2007. Current first-team coach John Kennedy will be his assistant.

    Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald

I think it's worked out just nicely for Celtic that Neil Lennon is out of a job. It's very convenient. I think it suits both parties right down to a 'T'. Celtic need a manager and someone who understands the football club and Neil Lennon is certainly that man.

It will give him an opportunity to go and prove himself again just like he did in the first period when he was manager there. He came in as caretaker, did an exceptional job and he'll be looking to do the same and put his name in the hat to remain there permanently.

The shock has subsided and I'm actually quite pleased with this now.

The Treble-Treble looks far more likely under a Manager who knows how to set up a team defensively (when it's required).

I was sick to the back * teeth of us dominating teams, only to come undone with a punt and chase from our typically rank opposition.

The TT is far from in the bag, but we've backed ourselves with this (pending!) appointment. We can worry about who's going to deliver 10IAR when this pantomime of a season ends.

Welcome back ya Ginger Prince. Deliver the TT, tell us what that fat * McCoist said to you, and then you can walk away even more of a Legend.

Hail Hail! I feel * epic!

    I’m glad he’s coming back.

I sometimes feel as though people have short memories with regards to Lennon’s time here - he was tremendously successful.

I don’t believe European progress and domestic dominance are mutually exclusive. However, if it were a straight choice between a clean-sweep domesticallygetting tanked in Europe, and not being quite as dominant domestically (but still winnning the league of course) and making our mark in Europe, I would take the latter.

    * this.

Fine with it till the end of the season but that’s it.

He’s not a better manager since leaving us.

Im not his biggest fan but think its a great interm managerial appointment for us. Knows how to win, knows us inside and out and should hit the ground running.
