Tbh I certainly don't want to see the back of BR, but I do have a feeling.

I do like Clarke though and how does anyone know how he's going to play with Celtic, ffs. He's in charge of Kilmarnock it's not exactly riddled with Iniesta and Xavis.

    Neither are we.

And most folk are aware that Kilmarnock aren’t the only team he’s managed either...

If Rodgers is to stay for the 10 things will need changing.

Someone needs to make the decision to overhaul our scouting system so we can atleast try and make the most of Scandinavian or Eastern Europe markets.

I'd like to see Clarke continue at Killie for a little while yet, but then Chances are if he keeps up the job he's doing there some championship club will probably come swooping in with the ambition of promotion to the epl.

Certainly if nothing else, an interesting 2 years lay ahead.

I don’t know but I’m sick of being embarrassed in Europe and rolling over and accepting pumpings. I’d go for someone who gets teams punching above their weight, has had reasonable success in Europe. Or look at options like Gallardo at River who’s had success in other major competitions.

A gamble in what way? We might not win every single domestic trophy? Cos let’s be honest any half decent manager should be winning this league comfortably with the money we’re spending.

The fact we’re only 6 points ahead of the Huns with almost double the budget added to the fact they’ve got a rookie manager who’s clueless is embarrassing.

The folk that want him over Rodgers I totally agree. Absolutely mental to want Clarke over Brendan.
However the folk that have no issue with Clarke, I can't agree with you, mate. I am one of them. Yes, he would be a step down. Yes, attendances and turnover would fall and the domestic football wouldn't reach the same heights; but realistically I genuinely think he's about our level at the moment. Rodgers is an exception, because he's a Celtic fan and the chance to write himself into our history books was enough to swing it; but we have zero chance of getting anyone as good as Brendan unless they are a Celtic fan. I can't think of any other Celtic fan managers of Brendan's quality TBH.

Clarke, Lenny... I have no problem with either of those two TBH. That doesn't mean I'm daft enough to prefer them over Brendan.

Aye I'd take better perfomances and results in Europe over trebles. Just as long as we win the league.

He isn't clueless TBH. He's taken them from a bang average SPL side to about Aberdeen's standard in about 6 months. That's not actually that bad. He's done nothing yet to show that he can go on to be a manager of Brendan's standard in the future; but for his first 6 months in management, he's doing OK.

    This guy though :56:

I’d go for a guy that gets teams punching above their weight and has done well in Europe or alternatively a guy that wins things with big teams and has done nothing in Europe.

    I agree.

There’s stepping down and then there’s destroying what you’ve built over a period of years. Appointing Clarke would be the latter.

He is clueless. Just listen to him.

Us being * this season has kept him in a job. He’s on a par with Pedro and Warburton.

I actually think if he pulls off the treble treble, that will live longer in the memory than anything except Lisbon, Milan and Seville.

He's a much better manager than Pedro FFS. :56:
I'd agree that he's probably on a par with Warburton and that's genuinely not bad for his first 6 months.

I think that might be inevitable whoever we get, mate. Our stock is very low in European terms at the moment and our league is seen by most as a procession. We won't attract anyone even close to Brendan's level. Why would they come? They won't get enough backing to make headway in Europe and they can't possibly better Brendan's domestic record.

There is an inevitability that our managerial stock will drop, I agree. I just feel we have to be more imaginative than a guy who came up the road with his eyes clearly on raising his profile in a poorer league through pragmatism in the hope of securing a bigger job.

It’s difficult to give a name because timing is everything but when Rodgers does eventually leave, hopefully in 2 and a bit years, there will be better options out there.

Sadly I think he'll go in the summer and his replacement will be a project manager like Deila or Lenny were at the time they joined. I'm not dissing Deila and certainly not Lenny (who did OK and fantastic jobs respectively), but every time you get a project manager, you roll the dice. With 10iar in danger of slipping away, I don't want us to roll the dice.

So yeah, I'd be OK with Clarke or Lenny. Not ecstatically happy, but OK.

No one will be happier than me if I'm wrong and Brendan stays for the 10 BTW.

I'm not trying to discredit what rodgers has done domestically, he's done an amazing job. But it really isn't out of the realms of possibility that we could be in an europa league final if we had a manager that knew how to work Europe.

I first had my eyes opened when a few people I really respect told me he'll be off. After that, I've been listening to him and his use of words. Brendan is the kind of guy who picks his words very carefully. He isn't currently projecting himself into our future.

No offence but that entire post is pure speculation.
