Unless you mean literally reaching the final or better, then actually good Euro runs into the latter stages of European competitions aren't rarer than trebles historically, quite the opposite.

I agree, but thats where we play better quality opposition. Its fine to look like world beaters when we turn over st johnstone three times in a row. But its when we play the Valencias, Salzburgs, Liepzeigs that we will really be tested.

We use that budget excuse when it suits. But when we get beat from teams like malmo, maribor, aek athens, nobody mentions the budgets.

Tonight is a bit of a reality check. Theres been a few tough tests this season and we have come up short.

yeah i referred specifically to seville.
Historically, there wasnt many seasons where Rangers were not in our league or were not at such a disadvantage, if we are all being honest.

Lol aye is the boards fault for Rodgers and his mate Congertons downfall in scouting decent players- You do realise Valencia spend only 3 million more on wages than us a year? De Vries, Compper, Gamboa, Mulumbu, Allan, Arzani, Hendry, Hayes, Benyu, Eboue Kouassi, Musonda are all the boards fault as well I guess? There is something called sustainability, how many more players do you want at Celtic? Is 39 players contracted to our club acceptable for a manager saying 'quality over quantity'? The club would be running at a loss this season if we didn't sell Dembele, and let's not forget Mr Rodgers is on 45 grand a week- so to completely blame the board anytime we lose is a bit short sighted.

Am just as frustrated as you pal. Am basing £1.2m on hendry though. In my mind even if we meet the valuation of a defender, will the board pay the wage. I get we might not operate in the richest of league but again, in a week where we are bragging about being £30M+ in the black, on a night where we earnt £2.1M in gate receipts . Surely to * we can spend £2.1M. That being said your right, them 2 are not up to scratch

Brendan has a weakness for centre halves and our scouting department is inept..

It's hard to take when we see performances like that tonight with diddies unable to get up in line as they're too slow and finished or other complete duds running the opposite way of the striker trying to play offside as they run in on goal.....and it happened more than once..

You say £3M as if it's * all. They are operating on a much higher income than us!

As for a infkated squad you have got me - to a degree at least. We already know know that Brendan works with a pre-existing system that identifies affordable targets. It's not like he goes out and gets who he wants. A fkd up system that I'd imagine few managers work with. Brendan works with that system, to the best of his abiltua at that

Seville is a bit of a high standard to hold him to, though. Those are once in a generation events. We'd all be more than ecstatic if Brendan was taking us to the last 16 of the CL or EL QF's every year while never going down without a fight- and yet runs like that are less rare than trebles. We shouldn't underestimate just how extraordinary Brendan's domestic record is.

No Rangers or crap Rangers... well, it's a factor, but one treble (let alone two) is still an amazing achievement. So many little things can go wrong that you have to be almost perfect- look at Ronny's first season where we were within an honest mistake of reaching the final, ultimately robbing him of the chance to go for a treble.

That preexisting system worked very well pre-Brendan though. Even under Deila it had a good record and Lenny probably had the best transfer record of any Celtic manager in our history. The difference in our scouting record pre- and post- Brendan must be the starkest I've ever known.

Salzburg team cost less than ours and they wiped the floor with us.

Why have we got a budget 10m-20m more than Salzburg yet we’re hopeless in Europe?

That's our clubs model failings not Brendan's. Besides don't they loan leipzigs off casts, who spend a load

He did with Jonny Hayes, Hendry and De Vries (his time at Swansea)-although hardly massive, sure the board is about 80% to blame for our downfall in Europe this year by not re-investing as much as we would've liked but were paying the manager 45 grand a week to set up the players as best as he can, which tonight he didn't. I mean Chelsea are arguably a better side than Valencia and Malmo gave Chelsea more of game at home while having spent only 450 grand this season on players. Just frustrated as we could be doing so much better than that performance on display tonight .

The money we got for Armstrong and Dembele for minimal outlay disagrees with that.

The higher income literally means * all though. We’re talking about spend not income.

Basically every manager in Europe operates in a system where the DOF/Scouting department source the players apart from us.

We’ve gave it to Rodgers and his fraud of a pal Congerton who’ve turned us into an absolute shambles when it comes to recruitment.

The model at the club is down to Brendan. We threw away our old model when Brendan came in.

He got rid of Park and brought in Congerton.

Stop making excuses and just accept he’s clueless when it comes to recruitment.

Exactly and the proof is in our scouting record pre- and post-Congerton.

I did think about the Chelsea/malmo point before you just said to be fair but your fundamentally right. That being said, is that Rodgers fault or our clubs model. I do think things will change once lawell is gone
