I just skim the interviews now because the answers are largely the same. But to be fair to Brendan, he's being asked the same questions repeatedly, you're gonna get the same answers.

I would imagine the RB will be only player coming in.

BR: I'm delighted with the performance. I thought we played very well. First 20/25 minutes we were too safe in our passing but then we started to play better."

BR: "I thought we had great control. These types of games are difficult. We score two goals and their keeper has a couple of great saves. Should’ve had a clear penalty but I'm so happy with how we played

BR on Filip Benkovic: "Initially he'll be out for around 4-5 weeks. His ankle will be in a boot and then we'll assess it from there. Disappointing but Jozo Simunovic came in and was excellent tonight.

BR on Maryan Shved: "Medical is done. He'll go back to Ukraine, finish his season there and then come in. By the summer he'll be ready to go."

BR on #DeadlineDay: "We know specifically what we want. We'll assess the squad after tonight to see who can go out on loan. I don't think we'll be overly busy but hopefully we can get one more in."

One more in. If it’s a RB then I’m content.

You’d be content with an Ajer and Jozo/Bitton/Hendry partnership for CL Qualification?

    Or Izzy v Valencia?

Is that because our expectations are so low?

No, I just think it’ll mean we addressed the key areas of the team, that needed a fresh injection of talent, if we also bring in a RB.

If we get a RB the sense of relief may mask the lack of vision shown in preparation for July, our most important month in monetary terms..

A CB should have been secured, whether that be on a pre-contract, permanent deal or whatever.. it’s absolutely criminal to be going into the CL Qualification campaign with the possibility of Hendry or Simunovic anywhere near our starting 11..

A LB is needed for this season and next too, 100%.. the thought of Izzy away in Valencia or even in the team for a sustained period of time domestically gives me the fear..

I've said it for years, we need to stop treating the domestic scene as our main league.

While we continue to accept domestic success as the peak of our ambitions, we get further and further away from being even a noticed team in Europe.

Build for Europe, the domestic scene takes care of it self.

I don't expect us to be in the top 16 every year, but we are currently in the 4th tier (second league even) of the European standings, we need to build so that we become a solid 3rd pot team, even reaching for the odd 2nd pot.
From there we can look to go far in Europa or even last 16 of cl.

Otherwise we continue to assume domestic success is all we need, while the rest of pot 4 teams are building and going to leave us behind.

It isn't asking for much, it's simply spend reasonable money on a * backline. A problem issue for the past 5 years - van dijk aside.

I think we’ll sign a CB in the summer window, we’ll have to. With Boyata and Benkovic going, assuming we’re paying a percentage of his wage, that’ll open up the budget for a CB too.

A RB would be a relief, purely because one is needed.

I can see your point about a LB, but I can’t see one coming in.

You can't account for losing Benko and Boyata going into those games to be fair. Ajer with either of those is more than good enough and Izzy is acceptable back-up to Tierney in my opinion. I'd be more than happy with that window if Toljan gets over the line.
