If we get in Toljan or Gumny I’ll be very happy with this window. Even though the obvious place to strengthen was the defence we desprately needed fresh faces up top after Moussa went and Sinclair struggled.

Was hoping to get a centre back in and not have to rush about for replacements in the summer but hopefully we have ones lined up.

 

I have given up on defenders. Two forwards, preferably on loan, and I will be happy.

 

I know that

 

Castagne is the dream, Toljan would be good, O'Donnell is reality

 

Attack wise we've done well, we need bodies and we hace done that but we should have certainly done something about our defence.

It's risky domestically, but feel it's fatal for Europe, the prospect of 3 new Defenders required for that defence in the summer for me will prove too much. So here's hoping.

Brendan Rodgers is hopeful he can add to his Celtic squad in the closing hours of the transfer window.

The Hoops are closing in on a deal for Borussia Dortmund right back Jeremy Toljan while Ukranian winger Maryan Shved should be unveiled in the coming hours.

There should also be outgoings from Celtic Park with Lewis Morgan close to completing a loan move to Sunderland and interest in fellow wide man Jonny Hayes.

Rodgers revealed he has already held talks this morning over deals for "one or two" of his players.

Rodgers - who has brought in Oliver Burke, Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo so far this month - told talkSPORT: "We probably won’t be doing too much - a few players out on loan. There’s a key areas that we want to bring players in but whether we do or not we shall see.

"There’s always communication with other managers and I have already been on the phone this morning with some that are looking at one or two of our players but that’s throughout the day

There’s areas we want to be better in. The difficulty I have is that I have good players and over these last couple of years they have developed and improved so well.


"For us to bring in players that are better than that costs money. The market up here is so difficult.


It’s difficult for us to get players from the Championship down south. It’s probably more so the wages. The club has always been supportive in trying to get players in even though there’s a certain model here.

"It’s difficult for all teams.


"But January is still a window where you can get good players - but we it will always cost you.”

Filip Benkovic is out until at least mid-March and Rodgers could be tempted to move for cover in central defence. Jack Hendry may be forced to stay with Benkovic out for a lengthy period.

 

Calling it now, Shved will be the only player announced. No defenders
