Talks so much pish at times...

Imagine we actually done some forward planning when it came to our centre half situation in the summer and signed one instead of refusing to sign a good one cos they’d want to play.

No more so than paying out £2.3 million bonuses.

At least there is a chance that you recoup a transfer outlay.

I sit in FS5 right down from Lawwell. He'll be getting both barrels off me tomorrow night.

I hope this window is a tipping point for our club. It's time we took it back from the Tories and corporate vultures that see it as nothing more than an annual dividend/bonus or place to schmooze with their cronies.

Distinct lack of respect with the language used against him from some here.

If we sign a right back suddenly the panty * will have nothing to get tetchy about.

    Exactly.

It’s his scouting network pal that seems to be looking at these ‘big players’ not us!

Maybe he should have a word and ask if they can scout players we are going to be able to afford.

When he repeats the same soundbites again and again, most of which is absolute drivel, how do you expect people to react..

I think there's a distinct lack of respect being shown to supporters, in expecting us to swallow the same excuses time after time.

    You'll never walk alone
If we're so * bent on spending cheaply on transfers then we should spend spend a decent amount on a great scouting system that has people all around the world looking for talents we could get on the cheap before other clubs catch on. We seem to be absolutely obsessed with the old model of buying/loaning from England when its the most over inflated market on the planet.

We've been atrocious at times away from home this season and had to go into more than one game with an absolute threadbare defence due to injuries and here we are 2 days before the window shuts with * all again, we've also failed to get rid of a bunch of players that are never making it here to free up wages comperr for example looks to have survived another window when he's never going to kick a ball for us.

Success doesnt insulate ANYONE from critisism.

Weve been on a slide since our first season, understandable? Of course. Replicating that kind of success is virtually impossible.

But BR has been resolute in his ignorance to address massive problem areas with our side. Hes pished away money on ddv, compper, hendry, gamboa, kouassi (* happened there is anyones guess), hayes, musonda et al and then appears utterly clueless about ACTUAL transfers with promise like maryan and arzani. Even just there he yappin about no epl managers wanting to do business. Its not the only * league in world brendan and its no * wonder we cant afford their overrated, overpaid and overvalued squad players.

Weve needed a new Rb, 2 new Cbs and gk (not to mention back up for kt who hes literally treated like a * donkey in a slave mine and ran him into the ground) for 2 * years.

Paying supporters have a right to vent frustrations.

These frustrations are then compounded by the utter claptrap he spouts everytime hes asked about these positions. We need to strengthen for the qualifiers in january, get them bedded in.... na january is too hard to operate in... we need to strengthen for the qualifiers.... wash/rinse/repeat. Knocking back millions of pounds for mucklords like gordon and * like boyata. Get tae *.

Its obviously not 100% on him as we lost out on his top target in the summer because lawell wanted to haggle over 400k and then had the * brass neck to take 2m+ bonus 6 months later.

Ive said it before and i say it again... if a REAL rb and Cb are not signed with at LEAST views to permanent moves in THIS window then he and lawell can go and * themselves. Together their making monkeys out of the supporters and putting the 10 in real real trouble.

    Love Br.

    Proud of his success.

    Happy with his dedication.

But needs to take his head out of his * and fix this * defence.

HAVING brought in Gylfi Sigurdsson on loan during his time at Swansea City and signed Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge when he was in charge at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers knows it is foolish to, as many do, dismiss the January transfer window.

The Celtic manager believes that clubs can conduct significant business this month and has, along with his scouting team and senior officials at Parkhead, been working hard to strengthen his squad.

But the significant challenges the Scottish champions, who are keen to land a top class centre half and right back, face in the modern market have been driven home to the Northern Irishman in the past four weeks.

“The climate and the financial side of the game elsewhere, in Europe and down south in both the Premier League and Championship, is making it really difficult,” he said. “You get Championship clubs who will pay players £50,000 a week. That’s impossible for us to compete with.

“I don’t know money. I’ve got a little bit, but I don’t know that much about it. There are better experts than me here on that. You find the player and, whether fair or not, I’m not saying it goes to Peter (Celtic chief executive Lawwell) and then he doesn’t do it. That’s not really the case. But sometimes it changes from an agent’s perspective or a club’s perspective.

“You’ve maybe agreed on something initially and then it changes. It’s a whole, difficult, complex dynamic. But it’s about trying to find the players you can bring in. That’s always the challenge.

“You learn to try and have patience in the window when you can. At the same time, you want to push to progress."

Rodgers added: “If I look back at my time as a manager, I had a really good window in January at Watford. At Swansea, I brought in Gylfi Sigurdsson the next January.

“At Liverpool, they got Luis Suarez in the January before I arrived and I got Sturridge and Coutinho in a January window. We had our eyes on those players for a while and were able to complete the deals.

“I’ve always tried to be philosophical about it without getting too dragged down by it. I go back to the players you can afford to bring in and trying to make them better.”

Despite his occasional exasperation at the predicament Celtic are in, Rodgers acknowledges the approach that the Parkhead club take to their transfer dealings is correct and one they are right to persevere with. It is certainly difficult to argue with the results it has produced.

The double treble winners have won all seven trophies they have competed for in Scotland under the former Swansea City and Liverpool manager, have qualified for the Champions League group stages twice and made it through to the knockout rounds of the Europa League on the same number of occasions.

But off the pitch, their performance has been every bit as impressive. The sale of players like Virgil van Dijk and Moussa Dembele for multi-million pound sums has ensured they have avoided the serious money problems that others have encountered in the modern era.

“If you look at a lot of the players here, they have become better players and got improved contracts,” said Rodgers. “They get paid better. That’s brilliant for them and the club because they keep improving.

“To bring in players over the top of them, that costs money. That’s the Catch 22 situation. There is a squad here who have been highly successful, but you always have to evolve and the best time to do that is when you are succeeding. It’s a challenge, but most Scottish teams will find that.

“It’s still an incredible league to come to. There’s a lot of negativity around the transfer window, but you need to have that resourcefulness to maximise what you have.”

Rodgers has signed Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Maryan Shved and brought in Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah on loan this month and feels the benefits of increasing his options in attack have been obvious for all to see.

“When we got to the Rangers game, we were playing Mikey (Johnston), bless him, up front,” he said. “He can do that well in certain games, but in the big games, where the quality can make the difference, for me it’s important (to strengthen).

“We are a team who attacks well. We brought in three young players who can hopefully give us that and two of them (Burke and Weah) have started really well.

“You need competition to maximise what you can get out of a player. That’s sometimes the greatest coach they can have - competition. The guy beside them who wants their shirt. We probably haven’t had that in certain areas.”

Do you genuinely believe it’s Rodgers that doesn’t want to spend money?

What does all of that mean ?....are we getting a RB, 2 x CDs, a KT back up....etc,etc,etc ???

Waffle, waffle, waffle, blah, blah, blah is all I hear.....this continual politician speak is getting us nowhere and losing BR some ground with fans.

I hate when he goes on about how he developed this guy and that guy in his past life at other clubs as if referencing it
is a way of saying 'see, look how good I can be'..... but this is now and now is when we need his magic touch.

Since arriving he's made some signings that have shown to be pretty * in many respects and have left us with no or very little cover for inevitable injuries to first pick players in several key positions.

Our defence has needed sorting out since BR came to CP and he hasn't done it yet.....now that is a big,big mistake and may have repercussions beyond this season.

I know we won't get the truth from the club but the truth of the situation is exactly what fans want.....then we can deal with that rather than be spun a whole bag of bollocks as if we know nothing about what we're seeing on the pitch.

If we announce Shved and Toljan it’ll be one of our most active January windows ever tbf.

Burke, Weah, Bayo, Shved, Toljan is a lot for a January window, albeit 3 are/will be loans.

What is frustrating is that we’ve strengthened short term but failed to strengthen for the qualifiers..

He definitely will want to spend money but the fact that his pal, our head of recruitment, can’t scout affordable players means that he needs to take some of the blame for our lack of signings for key positions.

The day Brendan stops putting trophies on the table , Is the time to critisize the board so far were 7 out of 7 so need to chill a bit, then go again in summer with hopefully 9 out of 9.
Weve brought a few high end loans in again but maybe thats the way forward if we cant afford them.
