No one would complain if a player were to miss a game through injury. If Tierney, or any other play, were suffering from burnout, the manager could simply say that he was feeling sore or whatever, and no one would criticise his decision to rest him.

 

Do you think it has nothing to do with him being over played?

 

Exactly 99% of fans wouldn't criticise Rodgers if he said a player didnt play, either through injury or if they just needed a rest.

This is blatantly not the case.

I disagree. But in the case of a fan doing that then they are just wrong and shouldn't be paid any attention to.

 

The stats for here have to be better than that!

From Jan last year in matchday threads, when we were home v any of the bottom 6 or so, (sometimes away games too) & early rounds of cups, I'd have KT out & mostly a little comment about how he needed resting. I wasn't the only one.
Bringing back Izzy at the time I thought was a good move, he played v Partick in the lge cup and had a good game and there was a consensus it had been a shrewd move, read his thread. However, it's not ideal to be January 2019 and still playing the 2012 full back combo. Weah & Burke have performed better than I'd expected and this has somewhat glossed over the fact that the squad needs work and is a ticking time bomb. Amazes me how much work a squad that has 7 trophies in a row needs. Gross mismanagment at ALL levels of the club.

 

I think it’s possible, the more you play the more likely you are to get injured.

However I am an advocate of playing the best team possible to you, and we are a far weaker side without Tierney in it. I also don’t think we’re the type of club that’s going to spend a large sum of money on a back up left full either.

 

Last season he clocked up the most minutes on the pitch in the world mate.

 

I know that, and to be fair I think there is a good chance a hip related injury would be due to over use of it.

My initial point was more about the fact that if he was being rested/benched etc Rodgers would be criticised, in that sense he can’t win.

 

A relief if he's back by early February..
