A die hard Jambo,*,I’ve seen it all now.
You’re the type of ‘fan’ assuming that you really are one of us to begin with,that probably goes to a game,any game at all,and the big fella makes save after save,everyone around is giving him praise except you,sitting there with gritted teeth,seething,steam coming out of yer *,grunting that he’s saved our team from getting a thrashing.
Another thing,talking about philosophy,Brendan started to use the play it out to defenders when he was at Swansea and has used it ever since,do you suddenly,after winning 7 trophies in a row,want him to change tactics?
I don’t like it but no way will I criticise Brendan for what he’s done,I’m sure even you respect that he’s been nothing less than brilliant,why,because he has a team that fights for him.

 

Genuinely puzzled with this mate!!...really can't get my head around it.....and especially when you throw in the whole DDV thing as a possible replacement for him!!

 

Because BR plays football from the back,he’s not going to change it now,his answer would be that punting the ball down the park will 6/10 give the opposition the ball.
Me personally,I’d prefer it if he’d clear his lines every now and then,again,I’m not the boss,just a punter.(pardon the pun.)

 

It's bizzare..

Half the shots Gordon has to save is from his absolutely appalling distribution straight to the opposition in play or his other favourite....battering it straight out for a throw..

From outside of the boot kicks straight to St Johnstone player's in our box to gift them a draw, to throwing a ball straight at a Salzburg player right at him in the box to set effectively kill off our chance of getting anything. He's laughable..

 

yeah i get that mate....what i'm struggling with is why he keeps CONTINUOUSLY asking a guy that quite clearly can't adapt to this to keep trying it!!!

 

Honestly mate, it's heart-in-mouth every time a half-decent (or even average) side play the high press against us!!....it's not a case of if it happens it's when!!!

Only Brendan knows but like I’ve said,he’s been using this tactic since the Swansea job.
When I was in Liverpool in 2016 I spoke to a couple of Liverpool fans in Kelly’s Dispensary and they said they often panicked when Mignolet done the same as Craig,but in a way,it all boils down to being confident and assured.

 

I was going to say De Gea but Gordon is probably a better shot stopper.

Neuer is different class completely,as is De Gea and many others,

In that case, Celtic always works on the basis that we should have better players than the likes of Dundee, Hibs, Hearts etc.

People tend to brush over Gordons good qualities, I agree with you there but the best game he’s had for us all season he ended up rolling it straight to a Salzburg player.

 

I have seen him hit a high pass out to the full back so many times and when we are being pressed high up the pitch, by the time the ball comes down is being challenged by the opposition and its beyond infuriating.

Whenever we play a quality opposition, his kicking/decision making/distribution gets exposed. If it isnt addressed it will continue to be an issue.

 

He said in a game where they threw away a lead that Skrtl gifted the ball to the opposition, that he will never punish a player for trying to play out from the back.
As idealistic as this total football approach is, its naivity to do it against better teams who have faster and better players.

Say Craig decides to punt the ball upfield against his manager’s wishes,Brendan will drop him for disobeying him.
You do know that when the ball is cleared from a keeper,any keeper btw,7 times out of 10 the opposition defence win the ball.
