I’d give him as much as we possibly can without endangering the club.

So would you give him the £40m sitting in the bank?

We did though. We qualified for the Champions League in successive seasons. We took the game to Guardiola's Man City who were ragdolling teams in the Premiership and gained 2 very creditable draws. We got a draw away to a decent Gladbach side and could've sneaked a victory.

Yes we were set up poorly v PSG and Barca last season however we still managed to come 3rd in the group and qualify for the Europa knockout stage. We then played brilliantly at home to Zenit before collapsing in the away leg.

Has he been faultless? No. No managers are.

Has he "not competed" like you've said. Not even close. There's not a single manager in World Football that could have bettered his achievements in his first 2 seasons with us.

I'm all for constructive criticism, there's undoubtedly room for improvement, he would be the first to acknowledge that but you're not being realistic at all.

They probably just remember his record with loans with them... :fear:

Pretty sure they only rejected our opening offer then went public hoping for other teams to join in. Think their manager or one of their coaches was ex rapid Vienna and he was desperate for them to come in late hijack it :giggle1:

Like I just said, I’d give him as much as we possibly could without endangering the club. I’m not an accountant, I don’t know the outgoings but if we can have that £40m going out without endangering us? Without a shadow of a doubt. Would love to see £40m invested into our team.

Rapid Vienna said they couldn't compete with us and some other mob I'm sure were supposedly in the running. For what it's worth it actually think he'll turn out to be a good signing..

The alarming thing is that we're now having to rely on other's recommending player's instead of our scout's and Congerton doing anything..

Everyone would love to see £40m invested in the team.

Rodgers has shown he’s clueless when it comes to signing players though. Personally think anyone who’d be happy giving another £40m is crazy to be honest.

If you want an idea of how poor our recruitment has been under Rodgers, I crunched the numbers:

The average Rodger's signing played 19 full games and 19 minutes out of a total of 59 games in 2016/17.

The average Rodger's signing played 12 full games and 87 minutes out of a total of 61 games in 2017/18.*

The average Rodger's signing played 8 full games and 54 minutes out of a total of 39 games in 2018/19.**

*Morgan omitted (loaned to St. Mirren)
    **Three January signings omitted

How’s that? Everyone seems to agree that his recruitment has been woeful but then in their next be sentence will say he needs even more money.

All I’ve said is we aren’t getting enough for the money we’re spending. And that the whole football and recruitment side of the clubs need restructured. Get a top DOF in and if he doesn’t want to work under it then he can go.

We simply shouldn’t be flinging money away on * from Congerton because he’s the managers pal and we don’t want to upset it.

    It’s a mental strategy.

One of his players fetched the highest ever transfer we’ve ever recieved. Just six months ago.

Like I said, you either trust you’re manager and back him or you get rid.

Rodgers has won 7 domestic trophies out of 7, got us to the CL twice in a row. No point doing things half arsed and trying to make life harder for your own manager and team.

And we failed to scout bring in a replacement because Rodgers said we hadn’t scouted any strikers because we already had 3. Absolute amateurish and no forward planning at all.

The only person making Rodgers job harder is him by signing * and giving out big contracts to players who aren’t good enough.

The Dembélé transfer was in motion under Deila if he is to be believed.

Did Brendan sanction it? Did he sign under Brendan?

Well, replacing Dembele when you’re only allowed to spend about £2m odd quid and get a loan or two is a big ask. Even for a guy like Brendan.

So you believe that it’s not making somebodies job harder not backing them in the transfer market? Surely even you can’t believe that?

No he didn’t. Ajer arrived at the club under Brendan, he put pen to paper in the February previous. When we signed him on a pre-contract.

On the 17th February 2016, under Ronny Deila mate.

That would be a good point if we had replacements lined up but couldn’t afford them. He came out and said we hadn’t even been looking because we had 3 strikers. Utter negligence.

He has been back though, £9m on Edouard was mental.

And I think it’s time we handed the recruitment over to someone else no matter how much it upsets because it’s been shown time and time again he’s clueless when it comes to signings.

He done the exact same at Liverpool. Bought loads of * and took no responsibility for it. Mention Coutinho or Firmino though and he’ll talk about how he signed them and spotted them. Moreno, Mignolet or Benteke though? Doubt it...

    My mistake.

I will give him credit for signing Dembélé, even if someone else identified him and set the wheels in motion. He might have an eye for a striker.

His record in the transfer market is still undeniably poor.

Given his quality over quantity mantra, he presumably thought that this backline was capable of winning major honours and competing in the Champions League:

    De Vries
    Gamboa Hendry Compper Izaguirre
    Utterly bizarre.
