'Has the red tape cleared up yet? Not that I am aware of, no,' said Rodgers.

'Is the problem with the international clearance? Yes. It is just waiting on that.

'Am I concerned? I am only guided by the club, really, and I haven't been (given cause for concern). Hopefully it will happen soon.'

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that the signing of Vakoun Issouf Bayo has been finalised, subject to International clearance.

The new Bhoy said he’s delighted to have joined the club, and can’t wait to get going with the Scottish champions.

With 18 goals in 23 games to his name this season, the 21-year-old is keen to bring his scoring form for Slovak Super League outfit Dunajska Streda to Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Moreover, conversations with fellow countrymen Kolo Toure and Eboue Kouassi ahead of the move have prepared him for what to expect at Paradise.

“I’m feeling good, and I’m happy to be here at Celtic,” said Bayo in an exclusive interview with the official Celtic website. “Kolo called me beforehand and explained that Celtic were interested in me. I said was very interested in working with the club, with the manager and with Kolo.

“Celtic is a great football club, and I’m very happy to now be a part of it. I also know Eboue Kouassi from the Ivory Coast national team at Under-21 level. I know him well, and I also spoke to him beforehand. Of course everyone in football knows the scale of Celtic but he told me what Celtic is all about and what a huge club I am joining.

“It’s my aim to transfer my form in the Slovak Super League to Celtic. I like to score and like to celebrate with the fans. I understand that Celtic fans are really good, that they make such a great noise at matches and support the team brilliantly, and that’s the sort of atmosphere I like."

As for his own traits, Bayo highlighted his speed and his ability to score goals with his head as particular assets. As a striker, he describes scoring goals as his main job, and looking forward to doing so in Glasgow’s green and white.

Bayo added: “I know I am joining a massive club and I come here to help the club. I can’t wait to join up with my new team-mates, so many great players are already here at the club. It’s my aim to score as many goals as I can, and help the team and the club and the fans win trophies.”
