I'm the first to be critical of the board but the recruitment is a shambles. This fallacy that there's no market that exists between £1 million players and £10 million players is nonsense. There are many clubs in Europe who are much more proficient than us in sourcing players that operate on similar or lesser budgets.

 

Mainly because his top targets are overpriced gash.
I’d rather pay £1million for a * player than £10million.
I’m not saying the board are blameless but Compper and Hendry were on his shortlist. If they are that * don’t have them as an option when your top targets knock you back.
Rodgers isn’t blameless and his signing record is poor in my opinion. He cannot try and shift the blame to the board it’s his and their doing.

 

Another is Cristian Manea of Apollon Limassol (currently on loan at Cluj) 21, Romanian International, aggressive, can get forward.

 

He's not guaranteed to be an upgrade , it's still only potential your buying. And it all comes down to how a player settles into the side and league too regardless of fees.

 

He's streets ahead of any of our right backs.

 

So so many clubs knock us out the park with their scouting network.
We are trying to copy their model - buy young cheap and sell high - but our scouting has recently been non existant.
Congerton is a diddy that’s apparent so if they board want to continue this model they should get him * off and get some of these guys from Salzburg etc to set us up a scouting network.
So many untapped leagues out there we could take advantage of.

Bayo seems to be a step in that direction.

 

We signed Bayo for 2m plucked from the slovakian league , he could flop or he could be another gem.
But we pushed the boat out for Edouard last window no one was complaining and we could quite easily sell him again for 10m tomorrow , that's without his full development or peaked years yet ,aint going to lose money.

When we bought edouard we already had a season long taster of what he was capable of. So it was guaranteed not to be a flop. A big advantage when trying to get money off the board.

 

Some of the signing we have made have been poor , but were only signing for 1m here and 1m there. with the likes of Compper ,Hayes and Hendry not big outlays .look at the players he's improved into assets and 20m for Dembele and 8m for Armstrong too and what more do people want he's won every trophy going.

 

£3m lost in a quality wage.

If that’s the case why did he sign Gamboa?

Doing the exact same as he done at Liverpool.

 

To be fair to him that was in his first season when Lustig wasn't quite the liability he is now. Gamboa appeared to be a squad signing.
