I don't think that you should be calling a young guy that's coming through the academy and clearly gives everything when he plays 'pish'. If you think he is short of the standard then fair enough but pish is a bit steep.

On top of that hes been motm in a good few of the limited games he has played. You can't deny he offers us a real attacking threat compared to Lustig and for those that keep pushing his lack of technique well his desire and determination makes up for a lot. Don't forget Tierney is far from one of our most technical players and it's not held him back. In fact it's his desire and determination that set him apart. Added to that I wouldn't have Ntcham in the team and he is one of our most technically gifted players. Technique is only part of the story. He might not be the first choice RB everyone is wanting but he's definitely the best option we currently have and should be in the team on merit and let's see where that takes him.

    1) Started 3 times this season. All home domestic games, whereby we own the ball as reflected in the possession stats. His defensive duties are minimal. Put a pacy winger running at him and he simply can't cope. So in that sense he's fine for domestic cover. But my * do we need to sign a quality RB who can hold their own in big domestic games and European games.
Credit to him for going forward and creating the overlap time and time again, but that's pretty standard in this day and age IMO. We've come accustomed to having a 32 year old who's legs have gone at RB, who crosses the half way line 4/5 times a game.

    2) As for Tierney being 'far from one of our most technical players', I disagree. Some folk think the boys a success purely cause 'he loves the club' 'he's one of our own' 'blood sweat and tears' 'puts his heart and soul into it' etc

The fact you’d have Ralston in our side and not Ntcham tells me everything I need to know.

One coveted by Porto for millions, the other who was no more than decent for Scottish Championship side Dundee United.

I think he’s pish so I’ll say it. He’s not immune to criticism.

. He might be struggling with his ankle as he twisted it at the end of the game but the squad is pretty much the same."

Again, it is about the difference between talent and application. Even allowing for the difference in positions, there is no doubt that Ntcham is a far better and rounded footballer. Porto covet him for that potential, but his application of it at Celtic, for whatever reason is terrible. A team with 11 players all sharing Ntcham's attitude would never win a game, a team with 11 Ralstons, for all their supposed limitations, would win far more.
Put simply, I share his opinion that Ntcham shouldn't be in the team and Ralston should.
"Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they don't shrink to fit inferior players" is what I think of here. Ralston is trying to grow into it, Ntcham is trying to get out of it.

    Birthday caird pish.

Ntcham is a quality footballer levels and levels and levels above Ralston. Whether or not his form has dipped following Moussa leaving and/or after his contract was extended is another discussion.

Ralston seems to be grabbing his second chance with both hands. Looks much fitter and hitting a fair few shots that will convert with more games and experience. I have definitely changed my opinion on the lad and I think Wee Johnston being in the squad is helping Tony. I can see more coming from him. Same split opinions would have been the same if we had of introduced Andy Robertson when he was here.

I have no idea what 'birthday caird pish' even means, so apologies there.

Ntcham is a talented footballer, who has absolutely no interest in being here or working for the team. His attitude is appalling. It has nothing to do with form, everything to do with attitude and application.

Celtic jerseys are not for second best.

Well, from the current squad Ralston is 3rd best so your analogy is ruined.

I think you misunderstood the analogy, in fact I think a lot of people think Jock's quote was solely about talent and ability. I think it had far more to do with attitude. In fairness,I don't think Jock had to deal with many spoilt brats like Ntcham in his day.
For what it is worth, I also think Ralston is our best right-back, but that's hardly a glowing endorsement. It would be great if we could get one in, but hopefully not Iorfa. I would have Ralston ahead of him too.

Time to abandon the hunt for a RB when we have an able replacement already in the squad. The money can go towards areas that need it eg. memory foam mattresses for yon Hotel.

I could find you 11 players in League Two that have the same attitude as Ralston. Doesn’t mean any of them are good enough. You need ability and he doesn’t have the ability to be our right back going forward.

I hope we go out and buy a first choice RB that goes straight into the team obviously, but I'm really not understanding the stick Ralston is getting from some here, he's not a world beater but he's done alright the few chances he's had, especially considering how much Lustig has been turned inside out by average players over the last year, he deserves a run of games.

Jock’s quote wasn’t intended to be used on Ralston at all. Period.

If you believe Ralston is the best right back we have there is no point even discussing the finer points of his ability or talent.

I'd love to know what Ralston's done to you?

Bhoy hasn't put a foot wrong since he's started getting some regular-ish game time.

Are you not allowed to have an opinion on a players ability?

I’ve thought Craig Gordon was * for 2 years, he’s not done anything to me either other than not be good enough.

How who says you aren't allowed an opinion?

We all know Craig Gordon is * because Craig Gordon has been * (bar the odd game), Ralston has been decent since coming back from DU in the games he's played, and only way we know IF he's gonnae be any good is to give him game time.
