So no new centre half’s this window now being confirmed really in the interview?

Come the summer we are going to need two new centre half’s, first team centre half’s as well.

Now we will get the good old, the window has just opened we have enough to get us through the first few rounds.

As time goes on, the club will bring someone in it takes time clubs don’t want to sell right away cause they want to see who becomes available......

Crunch game in qualifying for champions league, we have enough to get through and when we get that guaranteed money we will bring someone in at the end of the window..... seek AEK Athens this season.

Panic loan deals will happen and the roundabout continues.

I would rather we bring someone in now cause we need one for the rest of the season anyway.

Massively disappointing regarding a position that we clearly need.

As much as I like Brendan and I will defend him in 99% of the time. I simply do not listen to him when he goes on about transfers, his team at Liverpool was lop-sided too but he was hung out imo with their transfer board!

In terms of the blame with the board it’s something I have laid at their door since Lenny was in charge!

The board will do what they can to get by at a minimum you seen that in the 2014 appointment of Ronny Deila (who was original to be Lenny assistant manager and then Keane) he got the job as it was cheap and in 2014-2015 it could have bore great benefit. 5 signings that summer 4 of them loans and 3 of them didn’t work out. £2.3m on Scepovic whilst we left Kramaric agent outside in the car park! Admin error gave us 2nd bite at cherry in UCL and we blew it at home, robbed out a treble by SFA but then the next season unmitigated disaster but still won the big one.

We go out and get Brendan in at great expense and fanfare!

Bang quality signings Dembele, Toure and Sinclair.

Rogic, brown and Armstrong re invigorating.

Then double treble amazing times and what do the board do they do what’s they thought was needed to get by.

Cash in on Players to the tune of almost £30m last summer. Spent £1.36m or £1.63m and * everyone off!

As I said when AEK put us out last summer Lawwell didn’t gamble with £30m he gambled with £60m!!!!

We have spent so far in this window around £3m on 3 players and paid Lawwell £2.3m bonus!

So yes whilst Brendan can be blamed for the imbalance in the squad it’s a combination of errors and as for Congerton he should go back to Germany with Marvin the great!

Is he off in the summer that's why were getting loans until then?
    Is it incompetence again ?
Are the board not backing him again ?
    * is going on !

You have to think it’s a combination of a lot of things.

We have Weah who when you read between the lines looks to me like a 18 month loan with the french jurno but maybe review in summer.

Burke it’s to take the pressure off Forrest and Sinclair and allows Morgan to get game time elsewhere.

Bayo - cover for Griffiths and chance to develop talent

So all 3 deals for me seem plausible and reasonable.

But the lack of his usual mantra of building for the qualifiers people are picking up on well not being funny we have been 19 points clear in 2017 and 11 points clear in 2018 so maybe he is thinking well we are level at the top don’t want to come across like a * talking about UCL qualifiers.

    Still 2 weeks yet

Sorry but I think he's lost the plot slightly.

The entire support can see what we need. I don't buy the "aye but he's the manager" line this time either. There's nothing anyone can say that will convince me we DONT see a new centre half.

Great. Going into the summer qualifiers with a new centre back pairing. Probably recall Hendry no doubt..

We don't need new defenders, he'll just slot McGregor in as cover when needed. :fear:

    Agreed.

    He's either:
    • Completely blinded to our obvious deficiencies

    • Covering for the scouting department who have failed to identify targets

    • Covering for the board for failing to fund a move for targets.

    None of which are acceptable.

Quite eerie how similar this is to his time at Liverpool...

I actually do think Mckenna could replace him. I don't even rate mckenna highly. I also don't understand how Boyata got into the Belgium squad but a good 10 players around you can make anyone good.

He doesn't need to mention the qualifiers but. He can still go out and buy a centre back.
lustig ,boyata and benkovic will be off in the summer. Look how relying on jozo and ajer worked out last summer. One will more than likely be injured too. It's mental.

We will get a new first choice RB this window I am pretty confident of that.
Regarding a CB the board will be looking at it as having too many on the books at the current time 100%!
    its * lunacy and mental!

I think a mixture of all 3. He will cover for people as I think he doesn't want to throw others under the bus. However I don't think he is great at building a club for the future. To me he has always come across as an amazing coach which got us the trebles. He improved players at Liverpool when he got there but they went down hill. However they were mainly won on improving talent already here. Teams eventually worked out how to play against us and I think he has struggled to adapt the team.

Or decided he's going after this season so feels it's no longer his problem.

If that's the case the board might say , you have lustig ,gamboa and ralston until the summer.

Gamboa could be off this window and there is interest in loan for Ralston and Lustig to go back to Sweden in March

That's a fair assessment. It's clear his real expertise is in improving players, he's done that with various players at us since he came in.

The foundations of our success in our Double Treble winning seasons came from the squad he inherited from Deila. The issue is now that the replacements he has brought in to bolster the squad are nowhere near the level required. The decline of Lustig and arguably Broony, Griffiths being out and also losing guys like Dembele & Armstrong without similar replacements to come in have brought us to a critical point.

If Rodgers is to continue in the job for the foreseeable then the success rate of signings must improve. The longer his time at the club goes on, the more players that he inherited will move on and if we continue to sign the standard of players we have done in the last 2.5 years then we'll be in a complete state.

I would hope that wasn't the case and he'd go down in my estimations if that was the case.
