This is the sort of statement of intent we were all looking for this window. Welcome Oliver.

He'd have been on a decent wage at west brom , obviously were paying some of it.The fact he's Scottish with some potential maybe Brendan can get his career on track, like he did with McGregor,Tierney,Forrest and Armstrong.

First one in anyway albeit a loan.

Utterly pointless, and worrying signing. I actually think Burke is a good player but 2 short term loans, both extremely young, with no option to buy, whilst we embarassingly haggle over another young gun who has been described as very raw. There is clearly a reluctance to spend any significant money here. My guess is the huge wage bill that includes some amount of dead wood brought in by Rodgers and his team must be the cause of this frugel outlook. Unless we are hoarding money for projects we have in the pipeline, hotel etc then I can't see another explanation.

Our 14th loan signing in the last 5 seasons.

    Surely that's a bit much?

We're like a side trying to avoid relegation or something with these stop-gap signings. Our lack of serious ambitions is sadly going to catch up with us sooner or later.

No problem with a loan to buy and no problem with an 18 month loan but a 6 month loan with his club explicitly stating there's no option to buy. Baffling, worrying, another short term fix with no long term vision.

I think most people are aware of Oliver Burke & that he is a promising player. So sticking up clips if him isn't going to sway most people's position. Which is he's good prospect & if we were signing him great, but a short term loan with no option to buy just sends out a worrying and depressing message to the fans.

yeah this is a worrying sign. we had meetings with brendan, peter and desmond and promised better. we have been fed a load of bullshit again. im gutted more than anything. i thought after the summers window we would take a good look at our recruitment policy and make changes. we look as * clueless going into this window, than we do any other one. no excuses for * about. targets should of been highlighted long before the window opened. pedro should of been in his office phoning clubs on the 1st of Jan. nothing against burke but he does absolutely nothing to address any of our weakest areas.

we were promised a big window. truth is we now develop championship rejects for other clubs. id play lewis morgan ahead of burke any day of the week. this transfer does * a to help the squad depth

Welcome and good luck to the lad, I'm sure if he gives 100% he'll do a job for us... even if it is only for six month.

I'm not coming the c*** or anything and I'm not saying this is pointless; but having thought about this for a couple of hours now, I'm genuinely left scratching my head about what the point actually is.

I mean it's West Brom he's not getting a game for, not Man City. If he can't get a game for West Brom, then as far as I can see it's one of two: either he's not good enough for us either or he's a young player who needs coached to reach his potential.

If it's the former, what's the point in getting him in at all? If it's the latter, what's the point in a 6-month loan with no option to buy.

Not being negative here, I just genuinely don't really get it.

Apart from Forrest it wouldn't be hard to be better than the wingers in this league , so maybe he'll surprise and hit the ground running.

    6 month loan is pointless.
