Still think Gordon overall is a decent keeper but today he was * horrendous.

Im saying it was one of br first moves to replace him ,to Gordon's credit he has kept him out since and shows how br now trusts him as he is keeping out a cracking keeper in Bain who has the safest hands ive seen in a keeper at cp.

It’s not to Gordon’s credit at all - if Barca hadn’t shattered DDV’s confidence in the Nou Camp Gordon wouldn’t have been our keeper for the last couple of years.

Bain is the safest hands you’ve seen in a keeper at Celtic Park? :97::97::97:

Without doupt and I've seen some good ones , never seen the guy spill and always feel confident when he is in goal ,just my opinion ,and if a keepers confidence can be shattered in one game he is no use to us anyway ,That's why Gordon is still there ,mentaly stronger and can recover from mistakes ,(some may say he's had plenty experience there )with that quote .

He can save shots, and throw the ball out with his hand. That's it, though. Yet, since saving shots is always important in a keeper, he's number 1. I do think Bain should be getting more games.

You think Bain is a better goalkeeper than Boruc and Forster? :97:

I don’t think he’s saying that, just that he doesn’t tend to spill shots and collects the ball very well?

That’s the way I’m reading it anyway.

Even that is a massive exaggeration in itself.

I like Bain and I want him to get his shot but he’s still a new Celtic player and we’ve more questions than answers so far.

I'm guessing you are right, but the post's wording is a little unfortunate, the literal meaning of "safe pair of hands" is exactly that; but because we often use that as a shorthand for best keeper, I can see why Paul interpreted it the way he did.

It's a bit like how you could claim that Gary Hooper was the best finisher we've had since Larsson and mean it quite literally (and an argument can be made for that); but it can also be interpreted as claiming he's the best striker we've had since Larsson, which is ridiculous.

What's with this letting the ball travel to him while slowly waiting till the last milly second to kick it to *?

I agree but it is one of his positives as a keeper I think, guy likes to command his box and take control.

Never been a huge Gordon fan. He's done his job but has severally out stayed his welcome, for me.

Young and up and coming keeper required. One who fits our signing policy of buying them young and show casing their talent before moving onto pastures new.

Don't see him being dropped on Saturday but hopefully he's not our number 1 when we come back he's one of the biggest weak points in the team.

Gordon sets the tone, in terms of playing out from the back. He causes panic in the defence by constantly putting them under pressure.

He needs to be replaced ASAP. Complete liability.

Think Gordon is a very good should stopper, but his kicking and penalty record are horrible. According to transfermarkt.com he's failed to save any of the last 17 pens he's been in goal for. He's only saved 1 pen for us and that was in Sept 2014.

Are penaltys not shots on goal? Ridiculous to call someone a good shot stopper who can virtually never save a penalty. To me he's acrobatic and postions himself to make his saves look better than they actually are.

Craig Gordon is all about himself with his fancy moves and his attempts to make his saves seem more spectacular often at the expense of a corner

I hate how sick I feel whenever we get a penalty given against us cause its 100% an easy goal for the opposition.

I know Forster and Boruc were both unreal talents while they were at us and its not realistic to hope that every keeper will be like them, but Gordon can't even attempt a save at a penalty even when he dives the right way.

Obviously penalties are supposed to be fringe cases and not what a keeper is judged on but its looking like its the hun referees choice for trying to stop us picking up points nowadays.

I have been saying it for ages. Gordon is a shitebag. All other keepers take either 1 step or 2 off their line to make the goal smaller but Gordon hugs his line.
