    It wasn't just a little bit more though, it was nearly 50% more than we have ever paid for a player, and that's if you believe the£9m figure for Eddie.

    He's excellent but if anyone else thinks he's as good as Virgil we are not going to compete with their offers. Be fantastic if he did decide to stay here a couple more years for learning curve considering European potential.

    Don't know what he would have cost then, but I would imagine less.

    He's quality, hopefully we can get him back on loan again next season, I think he's maybe slightly lightweight for EPL football just now could fill out more and be a little stronger and/or quicker so we might get him back as he probably won't be ready for them next season.

    If he develops a bit into being more physically dominant over the next couple of years he could go on to do a Virgil and play for the top teams in Europe.

    It's moot now anyway, we didn't and he is well out our price range now unfortunately. I'll be happy if we can keep him until the end of the season.
