I'd be surprised if he makes the grade but I've been surprised before. He did fine last night though.

No reason to complain last night.
Wasn't great in his early days, but then he was playing through some European games against psg for * sake, as a kid.

I'd be happy to give him some game time, even to be back up. But lustig (love you big man) and Gamboa need replaced with one established rb for Ralston to play back up to.

Aye, I think he’s a guy that goes out, does exactly what he’s told to and leaves it all on the pitch. He’s a threat, he’s never going to be Ronaldinho but he’s some engine, is good at the basis and he’s a threat.

I like developing players like that to have in and around the squad, they’re useful.

Well, he’s already done that a few times mate. Was playing for us last night.

He’s looking like a good option. Not technically brilliant but there are players playing at a high level who are the same, our captain for one.

A decent performance against an abysmal Motherwell side changes nothing.

I’d love it if he could make the step up but I’ve yet to see anything to convince me he can. He’s a bit of a lump with not a whole lot of technical ability.

Seems I'm in the minority of people on here that like Ralston - as I seemed to be with Liam Henderson as well.

I made this point in the 'Youth Team set-up is pyoor *' thread but I think we're far too quick to judge young guys coming through. Ralston has literally just turned 20. He's enthusiastic, robust and likes to get forward.

I think it's important he gets game time. Andy Robertson is testament to that. The Dundee United loan move obviously didn't work but there'll be more suited ones out there.

    More than decent that..

His attitude and commitment is there for all to see..

Never gonna be a regular first team player but handy to have about. He isn't the quickest but is very attack minded and quite quick from a standing start..

    Deserves a start the weekend..

He did well last night considering his lack of game time recently. If he can take his chance in the same way Christie did then anything so possible. Would still like to see us bring in a RB in their prime (24-28)

Who's to say? We shouldn't be so quick to write young players off (you'd think we'd learn by now :giggle1:).

He's young and has a long way to go; but it's not impossible he could make it as first choice RB. He's clearly never going to be KT quality; but if he knuckles down, works on his crossing and his defensive positioning and Brendan develops him like he only he can, I genuinely don't see why in a few years he can't become as good as a young Mikael Lustig

I think he's decent, not great, but decent. His biggest weakness is pace, if could improve that (and his crossing) I think he would do ok.

Ryan Christie has * it for anyone who has a strong opinion on a certain player but I’d be even more amazed than I was for Christie should Ralston become a regular first team player.

He’s fit, strong and loves a tackle. That’s about the sum of his parts.
