Thought he was turning a corner tonight. Turned up a one way street, crashed and burned

Absolutely woeful with the ball at his feet. Pure and utter pish. Makes me want to punch a wall.

Some top class saves to keep us in it for so long but what a howler that was... most relieved man inside CP tonight.

Would gladly see him never start again that was as amateurish as you get tonight sick of his utterly * distribution does the team no favours whatsoever.

Said it before...as bad as his kicking/passing is, and it is painfully bad, it's his decision making that * me off the most. Constantly rifles passes to defenders who have little space to work with because they have an opposition player right next to them. Puts the defender under pressure and usually ends up with the other team winning the ball back. I like seeing us build it from the back but use your * brain.

Made some good saves tonight, albeit ones that he probably should be making. Then cost us the game with a howler of the highest order. Needs replaced. It's been the same for a couple of seasons now.

That was a complete one off howler, yeah I think he puts pressure on himself trying to be too passy.

He was brilliant tonight, but that was poor decision. Who'd be a goalie though, he makes a mistake it's a goal, pulls KT and Ajer out a hole, unfortunately goalkeepers don't have that chance to be saved.

Passing back to the goal keeper to begin with was atrocious

Efe Ambrose was a consummate defender for most of his minutes in a Celtic jersey; he was also a massive liability, who singlehandedly cost us games and often made us a poorer team.

Craig Gordon is in the same category for me now.

Scott Bain has yet to put a foot wrong during his time here, and we are a better team when he is on the pitch. He must start from now on.

Someone just called this a one off mistake lol, don't think you have watched Gordon in a Celtic shirt the past 4 years. I could make a thread of videos of his * ups that have cost us in europe alone that would go on for about 3 minutes, yes he can make some great reaction saves but that's about it. He has kept 4 clean sheets in European group stage competition from 32 games , so 1 clean sheet every 8 games with him in goals- I accept he doesn't have the best defence in front of him but he is a part of that problem. Also seems like he is a guy to pass blame onto others going by recent comments he has made in the press, Bain has to be getting a look in now- imagine if we get Inter again and Gordon is in goals ffs

    Standard Jambo, an arrogant *!

A hate the way he runs out the goal with his arms out as if he doesn't know what to do.

Hope his ex wife takes aw his money off him *!

    Aye that was me.

It was a one off, your stats are total bull as well making out he's the sole blame for every euro goal ffs.

I'm not saying there's saves that maybe could have been made, although say that for every goalie. He takes too many chances trying to keep the ball.

As said that is a one off, that doesn't happen twice to a goalie.

I'll find it a miracle if he's dropped after the saves he was pulling off last night, they coulda scored about 5 goals and you coulda blamed 4 of them on every defender (and Forrest) bar Benkovic, Gordon saved the arses of three of them.

In terms of throwing the ball to an opposition players feet then yes it is a one off, him making errors in europe is not and you know that. He can't control his 6 yard box so what chance has he got trying to organise the defence in front of him? 4 clean sheets in 32 games in group stages is a factual statistic, 10% chance of him saving a penalty ( Boruc is 35%, Forster 56%), can't hit a fullbacks feet unless it's from 10 yards, stays on his line at every cross - the list goes on. Or did we forget last year against PSG when they scored 12 goals from 17 shots across the 2 legs, some terrible goalkeeping on show there as well. His willingness to pass blame onto others is also something a bit concerning, I mean even at his mistake he was wanting the ref to bail him out then after the game when bt interviewed he was playing it down saying it was 'one of those things that can happen'- no it's not.

Hopefully Rodgers doesn't bring in any more ex players he has worked with (De Vries) and let the scouting team do their job, although I'm sure we will end up with Karius one way or another.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the part in bold, because I think his shot stopping was excellent last night; but other than that your post is spot on.

He was quoting statistics the other week, but notice if he passes the defender into a bad situation and the FB subsequently loses it, it shows up in the defender's statistics, not his! He was doing that a lot last night. As someone (I think Padmill) observed, at times they were almost hospital passes. It didn't cost as much as it might have, because luckily for Gordon, the one area of the pitch where we have quality to more than match Salzburg is KT and Benkovic (at times those two did amazingly to pass themselves out of Gordon-induced situations; but it absolutely contributed towards our general inability to keep possession.

Your point about decision making is exactly right. Seriously, the guy watched how they press everything and run down everything like a pack of ravenous wolves for over an hour (and you have to imagine his match dossier will have warned him about this too), then in his interview expressed surprise that the opposition forward closed him down, because they "rarely do that". Seriously, was he not paying attention or something? Denial of responsibility like that is a big reason why he never learns from these mistakes.

That's a very good analogy with Efe, mate. :50:
I definitely would bring Bain in for the rest of the season, give him his chance to stake a claim. Having said that, so far I have seen nothing from Bain to suggest he would have made those two big saves Gordon made. He does deserve his chance, but he has to show he can do that. In Europe, we do need a keeper who can make that kind of save.
