I do find it odd how he just keeps his job despite the many criticisms over the years. When he watches the games he looks on like some all-powerful dictator. He has the most moronic expressions, what's the deal with him, is he some kind of mason of something, he seems untouchable. He's also punching way above his weight with that Blonde on his arm as well.

It really is crazy how he has been able to keep his job for so long when he has been presiding over the slow but steady decline of the national team due to his failure to show leadership in terms of putting a structure in place to develop our best young talent. I have no idea how he has done so but sadly your description of him is pretty accurate above. Maybe he has some really compromising * tapes on everyone else that matters in Irish football but whatever it is I wish something could be done about it as he needs to go.

Two new candidates emerge as favourites to replace Martin and Roy.

Ireland are abysmal on paper, and have nobody of note coming through from what I can gather. Poisoned chalice atm. Martins a bit of a dinosaur and * having Roy Keane anywhere near your coaching set up.

Will much change with McCarthy? Seems a similar old school type.

Isnt a bad side, throw in Hogan, Mclean, Meyler, Cyrus, Keogh and theres players there for a more defensive performance and subs as well, its not greatest team but its not bad and it's certainly got footballing ability, it doesnt just have to be chronic slow * football, the front 4 have pace and ability on the ball as do the Fb's

Don’t think Robbie Keane will add much. At least he won’t have a negative impact like his namesake

Love Robbie but i'd say the main problem with having him anywhere near the setup would be he would pick himself every game until he is 75 at least :giggle1:

  11. Considering we couldn't score in a brothel, it mightn't be the worst idea.

I really like this move. Kenny hasn't much experience outside of league of Ireland so this gives him time to help the u21s and improve what is coming through, then step hopefully after McCarthy has steadied the boat.

Switzerland, Denmark, Georgia and Gibraltar. Could have been a lot worse.

Sick of Denmark but I honestly don't think they're that great, I think the hammering we took over a year ago was a series of things falling into place for Denmark a few mistakes for us. Switzerland being the best team in the group and even then they're probably one of the pot 1 teams that you'd have taken. Our squad is still pretty terrible regardless, hopefully big Mick can muster up something.

I must say Obafemi was pretty impressive vs Man United yesterday. So there's some hope in that regard, we really need a striker coming through.

We have a chance I'm this group and that's all we could hope for. Tickets for Gibraltar are going to be a nightmare. Just over 2000 capacity.

As bad as we are right now and we are dreadful that is at least a group we can be competitive in and maybe have an outside shot at second place although still hard to see how we knock off either Denmark or Switzerland. Still as you say it could have been a lot worse no doubt about it.
