Been brilliant but what mark would he get for this season so far?

He's been poor. Champions League qualifying failure. Poor Europa as we stand and only just picked up in the last 2 league game's where overall we've been dreadful to watch and pumped a couple of time's, plus dropping points at diddies like St Mirren..

Has set high standards but I'm sure even he himself would mark down a * score..

I said it a few weeks ago, after the Killie game, and I'll say it again if we get beat tomorrow, but had this been the start to a season by any other manager (the day after the Kilmarnock game) then we would be expecting him to walk.

He laboured to a couple wins after that, then flunked against Salzburg before finally a decent performance against st Johnston. But we seem to have came right back to the same nonsense again.
Unless it steps up tomorrow, then that st Johnston game looks a one off and not the corner we needed to turn.

And in that case, his marks for the season so far become very * low.

So far he is really only 5/10, I want to give him a 6 but that's too kind.
I'll come back to this tomorrow and he may get the 6 or he could drop to a 4, that's how poor this has all been so far.

    1. Defending: We need a new coach, to tackle this problem area. we are being let down by poor concentration of players and closing down.

    2. Recruitment: We are a developing club. Where we source undervalued players, for low costs, train them, improve them and sell them on for large fees. Something is seriously wrong as the players recently recruited have not improved or stepped up a level.

    3. Europe: The Style or Philosophy of playing must adapt to fit the circumstances. We need to be difficult and hard to beat in Europe. We need to win games and make progress to get better draws and get out of Pot 4 in CL and Pot 3 in EL Draws.

    4. Rebuild: The current first team and squad are at the end of their cycle. The manager inherited a lot of the players from previous regimes. The players he has indentified and brought in are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The board needs to either back the manager in the transfer window and allow for the older players to be replaced and sell all squad players that are stealing a wage. Its not good enough that the squad players are not capable of filling in when the 1st team are out injured.

    5. Youth: We need a greater number of players able and capable of Stepping up to the first team. We need to get talented and promising young managers/coaches, working in all ages levels of the academy. The Youth team coach or manager should potentially be a Former Captain or player developing their coaching and managing skills, and be a potential manager in waiting, if needed.

    WE WILL NOT LOSE tomorrow..

We haven't came back to the same nonsense though? We smashed Hibs to pieces. Have a few knocks and injuries where we played half a first team in Leipzig, where we undeniably were better for the first half hour than Salzburg where bar Hendry and Broony was full strength. Rogic as well actually..

We've turned the corner in my opinion already and it'll be seen tomorrow. I'm just pointing out how it's been to date really bar Hibs and St Johnstone it's been terrible but the shift in play has changed, domestically anyway..

A psychologist or something as we're mentally weak as a squad and crumble under sustained pressure everytime..

We may have one, I don't know..

I want to agree, it's the downer after Thursday though that is taking the edge off those two games for me. And i would assume others.

If we go out and play like we should tomorrow, win by 3 goals, this all takes on a different light.
But if it's more of the same (those two games aside) then it's not corner turned.

I'll be watching as always with excitement and belief.

Most people I know were expecting fuckall and hoping we didn't get tanked. I was genuinely buzzing for the diets all week..

Aye it's * losing but if we hammer this mob tomorrow, I won't give Leipzig a seconds thought..

We should have sports psychologists in the backroom staff.

I would also send a club delegate to the Leinster Rugby set up and also the Ireland rugby set up to fact find and see what they are doing in player development.

Leinster have a track record of bringing thru talented young players who are capable and able to play for the 1st team and win. They have first class coaches who are winning everything in that sport and importantly they are winning against clubs with greater playing budgets and wages bills.

Looking at different sports and their practises can move things forward for the club and players.

We had the guy from Ireland before who left us..

Think he oversaw that kinda field..

Good idea though. Doesn't matter if it's a crossover as the guy we had was from Gaelic football if I remember right..

I've already answered long ago one name, would you like me to post x amount of hypothetical names because you've said that Rodgers is THE best manager that we can get - well

    Jim McGuinness.

I don't know too much about how that worked, but I remember us still being very mentally weak during his time here.

We need a happy Brendan Rodgers. The rumours are that he is * off, and the fact he has been taking swipes at the board in his interviews would suggest there is something in that.

His first 18 months were pretty amazing, but we've failed to build on it. Ultimately, the recruitment hasn't been good enough. Across several windows, Congerton has failed to produce value for money signings and needs to be replaced with someone who can. Easier said that done, maybe, but we cannot continue down this road.

Money doesn't grow on trees at Celtic, so we have to be careful with it. If we have to spend £4m & £9m (Ntcham & Edouard) to guarantee first team quality, then we're not doing our job well enough.

I don’t want him sacked, but I refuse to believe there’s not another manager out there who could have domestic success and do more with us in Europe - and who is realistic.

Just because Deila was a failure doesn’t mean we have to ignore the foreign route.

There's only one way to settle this:

@JC Anton wearing a Brendan Rodgers mask v @The Bunnet wearing a Neil Lennon mask.

Game of long shots on the Celtic way at the next home game. First to the 10 wins.

£5 ticket, all proceeds go to charity

To add a bit of realism:

I'll put a Peter Lawwell mask on, hold on tightly to my wallet and boo both of yous from the sidelines throughout.

@Gyp Rosetti will be wearing an Alan Thompson mask and turning up half way through the game holding a can of tennents and reeking of drink. Simply because there will be no need for props or notice for this as he does it anyway.

Looking for a volunteer to wear a Moussa Dembele mask and shout "liar" "broken promises" and "le *" at @JC Anton ?

That'll need to go on hold, I'm still waiting on a reply from Ratyata to see if he'll accept my sparring challenge in front of the Jock Stein statue...

This can't wait, we need to know one way or another.

We might have another game at Hampden to lose if it's Lennon or another European game to bomb if it's Rodgers.

Lenny got us to the last 16, and it was magic to beat Barca.. he also lost 6-1 and failed in CL & EL qualification in the same season. And was tactically inept in his last CL campaign..

All Celtic managers have struggled in Europe, it's just a fact..

This EL campaign isn't done yet either..
