    Salzburg starting XI against us:

    Walke - £900k
    Lainer - £180k
    Ramalho - £720k
    Pongracic - £900k
    Ulmer - £540k
    Samasseko - £270k
    Haidara - Free
    Schlager - Free (Academy)
    Wolf - Free
    Dabbur - £5.4m
    Minamino - £720k

    Total cost: £9.63m

Not quite less than Edouard but it really puts it in perspective how little value for money we are getting.

Compper, Hayes and Hendry were all more expensive than everyone bar the big Israeli.

I know nothing of their coach and am only concerned with how we do. I expect us to have a team that can qualify more often than not for the CL. If this Salzberg team cannot qualify then the signs are worrying.

We meed a more pragmatic approach from both BR and the board

Serious investment in players is needed or we are gonna lose Brendan. You can see his frustration is clear. If I was him I'd seriously be thinking about moving on and he loves the club just as much as any of us. We need to see something from the board in January. I really find it hard to watch our matches, I bet Brendan feels even worse.

    Obviously, you're dismissing his record.

I'm not saying it hasn't been disappointing at times. But his record is comparable with any Celtic manager in the modern era, all have struggled with CL qualification.

Their wage budget in the 16/17 season (only one that's available for comparison) was €60 million. Ours was £52.2 million which is more or less identical going on a conversion rate of 1.15 which it was in May 2017.

    I'm not.

We have regressed in Europe and domestically. Hopefully we have turned that corner domestically but in Europe he has not seemed to learn from his mistakes. I fully believe he has the wherewith all to see us improve but he seems to be too stubborn to take the necessary steps. After each defeat I hope he bins his principals and prioritise results but he continues to disappoint. It's frustrating because we know he has the ability to get results.

They play in the Austrian league. They won't be on silly money.

That may be, but I’d much rather get to the EL semi-final (Salzburg last season), beating some quality teams along the way, than qualify for the CL only to get pumped silly a few times.

I’d hazard a guess and say far less than our squad.

Well Salzburg have done alright for themselves considering they haven't qualified for the CL in 20 years. We all say it's important because we get £30m for qualifying...but we rarely see that money being reinvested.

We had two years of CL qualification under Rodgers and ended up with a weaker squad.

Yes we are still in the EL, but look what happened when we played Salzburg - a team who spend even less money than us. They absolutely ran all over us. And now it's an uphill battle for second place.

Qualifying for the CL shouldn't be the be all and end all.

Aye I'm not saying its not been frustrating, and the criticism is justified to an extent. What I am saying is he's the best man for the Celtic job and we're lucky to have him..

What we need is a board that isn't content with just going through the motions. Who is willing to have petty arguments over the likes of McGinn.. the club needs fresh ideas and direction at the top.

Is the fact we haven't invested the cash properly BRs fault?

Considering the money he's spent on Kouassi, Hendry, Compper, Hayes, Gamboa, Musonda and the likes...then yes it's partly his fault.
