*. In my blind optimism I forgot Lustig and Gordon existed and am now resigned to a 3-0 defeat.

 

Funny if it weren't true. It's scandalous we're now 2 and a half years into Rodgers tenure and we're still having to watch Lustig at RB.

At this stage I couldn't care less what Gamboa has done. it's time to bury the hatchet and get him in the team for the next 10 weeks.

Fed up watching the team suffer for what looks like nothing more than stubbornness on Rodgers part.

 

I am not hoping for anything else other than we can string a few passes together. The lack of such has been very embarrassing in the last few away games.

 

Lustig for all that he's done in years gone by is pretty much finished now, Gamboa definitely needs a shot and if he doesn't step up to the mark then a new RB should definitely be high on priority come January.

For sure that is a big boost for us. he is without doubt one of their most important players. Although they still have Werner who will take some stopping. I would be over the moon if somehow we could get a point in this one.

 

Picking Gamboa doesn't guarantee a solid defence but continuing to pick Lustig guarantees we won't have one.

Lustig still has experience on his side.

Shame that his legs have gone - which guarantees his weaknesses at chasing back, and also limits whatever attacking threat he once was.

Shame too cause I really like the big *, but I'd rather see him not anymore.

 

We're due a nice wee surprise result. Real shame Forrest is out though.

Am I the only one who has been extremely underwhelmed by Werner everytime I've seen him for month's now, including the world cup?

His finishing seems pants. He regularly plays up top but drifts wide and is as greedy as *..

He looked the next big thing when he broke through but I don't see it now..

 

The reason I was some optimism going into this game is that for the first time a very long time we are actually capable of fielding a back four for that isnt a accident waiting to happen (providing we get no injuries before Thursday) Teirney - Boyata - Benkovic - Lustig. I know the obvious cause for concern is Lustig with many people saying he is "done" but I think he still has it in him to produce a solid 90 minutes.

 

Forrest gets a rest where he will be fresh raring to go on sunday, With his pace and will run hearts ragged on the big park.

 

Typical that Brown is out then.
