I could understand if we actually went for the game rather than parking the bus and chasing the ball all game. You surely can’t be that serious that you think we had a chance of winning that game with the way we played . Only footballer wanting to play football yesterday was Mulumbu. They had something like 86 attacks to our 11, 24 shots to our 4, almost made double the amount of passes. Players were shattered coming off at half time from chasing the ball about. Too much respect shown for a team that looked to have just as a shaky defence as ours.

I dunno if people are joking with this suggestion or what, but he would be a much better fit for us in terms of tactics in Europe. Our best results in the last 15 years have came from being hard to beat and taking advantage of set pieces.

Both of those are our glaring weaknesses atm.

He got criticised the past 2 years for being too open and attacking against sides like PSG and Bayern who completely ripped us to shreds.
Now he’s getting criticised for relying to much on the defence and not attacking enough.
The fact is our squad is nowhere near good enough to compete with teams of that standard. Significant money should have been invested in the team in the summer and it wasn’t. I don’t blame Brendan for that and think it’s obvious he is completely scunnered with the lack of financial support he has received from the board.

    Almost time.

He continues to make the same mistakes and allow players the opportunity to make the same mistakes.

2 goals in group stage. Both from long balls Not this philosiphy pass across the back pish.

We dull, predictable and easy to outsmart

The usual lack of forward planning and the transfer window did for us this season. Brendan was probably labouring under the misconception that their would be money available and that one or two poor signings wouldn't be held up against him to balance the books or even be alluded to in the official statements. I mean to say the losses are peanuts compared to the money flushing around the EPL. His Jaiket up here is well and truly on a shaky hook. I truly can't stand PL and I sense his hands all over this. BR was bigger and much more popular than him and I don't care what anyone says this is about ego for PL and it's also about monetary long termism in a different way. The usual we need the "OF" for the good of the game. Rakes in the money on the back of sectarianism not to mention all the corrupt shenanagins going on. The money men are all part of that.

I hate going down the conspiracy route but for years now we have seen this time and again. 7 previous titles doesn't eradicate the memories of what happened before every time we looked to be pushing on from a success. I'm amazed we got this far without shooting ourselves in the foot again. BR is a good manager but like all managers he will get something wrong now and again. I suspect if he had the team that he wanted at his disposal this would be a whole different story but he doesn't and you can't, no matter who you are, make a silk purse out of a sows ear. He came to our club a bright shining light and turned it around for a while. He brought in a team of professionals to help him do it and we all stood back in admiration. I think that he has tried to do his level best and there's no way that I believe he has just chucked it. Our team has been in decline for a long time and the club is, no matter what the board say, dependent on CL/Europa money. Why else when papped out of Europe do we sell our best players to the highest bidder. And before anyone prattles on about Edouard been bought for 9m....please seriously?

I'm absolutely sickened by the way this is panning out as we the fans deserve so much better than we're getting.

Are people forgetting the dross that flooded in under Lennon? And he arguably had more control on it all.

The issue this club has is bigger than any manager.

Rodgers, bar a decent run in Europe in 2 seasons, is one of our most successful managers in the clubs history, except for a European final, domestically he's done what no other modern day manager has even come remotely close to.

And what does he get for it? Nothing, he's given no more control then those before him Infact he's probably got less control then any other modern day manager and is somehow expected to continue his dominance.

The board are * notorious for never once building from a position of strength and we all hoped that after they had the balls to go in for Rodgers that would all change, it hasn't and it won't.

Rodgers could leave at the end of this season, board bring in a Stevie Clarke or similar ilk and they will be given a decent budget for their first season and we will all be back at square one where we then fast forward 3 years and the new manager is getting utterly shafted by the board.

Agree with this to a certain extent. Think some of the money Rodgers has spent has been on bang average players and he shot himself un the foot last January saying he got everything he wanted from the board when we signed Hendry and Bain!

The Celtic Song ... There can be only one !
If as I suspect, he goes at the end of the season. There will be a decline in season tickets bought, no matter who they bring in. Fans are sick of the penny pinching from the board.

If we fail to get 8....... Then no matter if he stays, they better look out the big banners for the top tiers again. As even the waiting list won't take up the offer of seats.

My view is that he left the right side easy to attack and very open to it last night. I don't think he did park the bus, his tactics were just poor.
With regards to financial support he has a team earning double that of PSVs. If that is the case I can understand them not wanting to add too much to the wage bill.

Not sure where PSV come into it???
So you were happy with the business we did in the summer?
Selling some of our top players and making no attempt to replace them. We also have Jack Hendry playing in central defence ffs.

The football has been dismal for some time. Our wage bill is scandalously high, and our scouting network is non-existent. He has squandered millions of pounds in the transfer market and refused to play in-form players, who he supposedly signed, because of petty grudges. Humiliation is now routine in Europe.

I could forgive all of that, given his record in domestic competition, if he showed the capacity and will to redress it, but alas.

It pains me to say it, but I would be unconcerned if he were to move on now.

At this point, it's a certainty that even the cheapest options available, Clarke and Lennon, would be an improvement on him. At least the line up wouldn't down to his ego and who is his best pal, and visibly terrible signings such as Hendry would get called what it is from the beggining instead of "lets give this guy totally out of depth a chance, the manager almost won a Premier League, he knows what he is doing"

Bit of a difference between PSG and Bayern compared to red bull salzburg- an Austrian team that averages 10k fans and no where near the size of those two. I'm sorry but he has had more than enough finical backing to beat the likes of Aek Athens, where all our European misery this year began. Wasn't expecting much, but it's baffling as to why we put 0 pressure on their defence after they had just made an error 2 minutes in to gift us a goal. This is competition that he was brought in for, 2.5m a year to park a bus against Salzburg ? really. I agree that the board is more to blame but again he has to take responsibility on the way we set out that game. He knew coming in that the budget isn't going to be anything extraordinary so he has to get on with it and work with the players he has.

Did anyone here the press conference a day before the game? Coming out and saying Boyata will not be at celtic next season, a day before one of our biggest games of the season! confidence levels must have been so high in the change rooms lol.

Psv come into as an example that the board are paying high salaries so them not funding Rodgers is not exactly true. Players like Jozo and De Vries have been given contract extensions while at the club, that would have been under request from the manager.
No I wasn't happy with the summer but I think Rodgers should be able to put a better side together with the annual spend and he hasn't this season

He’s away at the end of the season.

Reading and listening to the Media this morning, you'd think Rangers beat Barcelona last night and we were hammered 10-0.

Rapid Vienna have just sacked their manager and are sitting 8th in the Austrian league.

Salzburg were last year's semi-finalists playing against a Celtic side missing key CM and CB players.

    It's all about perspective.

So what, we do nothing and hope he comes out his wee mood?

Don't think a single one of us wants to see him fail or to drive him out the club, but getting to that stage that something needs done. Preferably he figures it out and we turn it, but what stage is it going to get to? What sort of defeat is needed to wake him and/or the players the * up.

We slated getting bear by Barcelona and psg who have a squad capable of doing that, Salzburg don't. Yet it still happened. It happened without any dig, urgency, tempo, anything that we became used to in his first season.

Totally conflicted. He's won everything but the football has been pish for an age. We are going backwards.

He and the club have a lot of work to do in Jan.. and it’s been a tough summer..

Judge him at the end of the season..
