Exactly. He had left from Liverpool the year before, he wouldn't have been shy of a few decent offers from the EPL if that is what he wanted. He may not have been lined up for the Chelsea or Man United jobs, but he isn't going to be lined up for them after being at Celtic either. Notion that he is here as a stepping stone is silly. He'd have got a job at a mid table club, if that is what he wanted, and will be all he will be offered from England after a stint up here.

For me, I reckon he is growing as a manager, doing something he loves - managing us - and wanting to go down as a legend in some capacity. His next move will be to the continent, most likely Spain, where his style of football is favoured and he has adapted his style based off of some of the coaches that have/are there.

I'd imagine he would as well. But of those leagues, you are then looking at teams of Juventus, Bayern, Dortmund, Barca, Real, Atletico, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Lyon, Monaco as being the only ones with any guarantee of being in CL qualification. And he aint getting those offers before, during, or after his stint at Celtic.

Point being, he aint working his ticket here as a stepping stone, because the teams lower than the mentioned, are Napoli, Villareal, Milans, Schalke, Spurs, Arsenal, Bordeux etc...teams he would have had a chance at before us anyway - so his time here is mute.

I don't doubt that Brendan is * off with Lawwell's incompetence.

The summer transfer window will continue to haunt us.

We're still feeling the effects of it now and that will continue throughout the season.

The reality is we should be in the CL and we should be top of the league.

While it is of course possible to rectify the situation in the long-term, that is, in the January and next summer windows, I worry that enough damage has already been done to make Brendan think his time here is almost up.

But see all that * in the above, it's made up ITK pish. Of that, I'm certain.

Problem he has, is that if he was so * off with Lawwell over the Jan window to the point DD has got involved to give assurances that in Jan he will be given a bit more muscle to flex then Jan window is going to tougher then it already is for a lot of clubs.

I expect nothing in the Jan window, in the hope that if Celtic do pull off something decent then I will be * bouncing off the walls.

 

Tbh deep down I don't expect much in January either. It's a difficult window. But, we have had some success with it in the past.

As it stands we need:

A replacement for Armstrong
A replacement for Roberts
A replacement for Dembele
A new RB
A replacement for Boyata (who will definitely be gone by the summer)
A new CB to partner the replacement for Boyata

There's no chance of us making that many signings in January.

We'll get two, maybe three at best.

What would I prioritize if it's only three?

Probably a replacement for Armstrong (we're too predictable in the middle of the park and lacklustre in the final third) and another CB and a replacement for Dembele.

When you put it like that it's still a huge ask.

 

It really is impossible to say which is a priority now. before I think there was a strong case for CB.

Now though?. it's pretty much the spine of our team needs strengthening and in January I highly doubt we will be able to fix that.

 

Obviously aye, but his reputation of not winning that league title and his leaving will have likely out the top end clubs just off. But nothing he does here will make a difference to that.
However, any other club in the epl wouldn't have been put off

 

Can see some truth in that. The sit down with Desmond in London seems plausible.

Asking Dembele to come to China with him sounds like utter nonsensical bullshit though.

 

To be fair I actually don't either he looked so awkward at the pavilion.. Have no doubt he has an affiliation of some sorts when he was younger I'd say his uncles are more fans and that's what's rubbed on him when younger then moved to England not really gave a * he wants to be here I have no doubt but more so to showcase how good a manager he is than his complete love for the club
