I think WGS means when he eventually leaves, don't think he is talking about right now.

Strachan sees McGhee as next Celtic manager

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan sees Motherwell's Mark McGhee as his successor at Parkhead. That's why Motherwell gaffer McGhee last week turned his back on a move to Hearts, says the News of the World.
Strachan could leave Parkhead at the end of next season - and will put McGhee's name in the frame.
Strachan also pushed for McGhee to get the Scotland job in January.

What do you guys think about this? I was under the assumption Strachan would want to stay for a while instead of just one year. This certainly isn't final, but I'm a bit surprised by this to be honest.

Would love for WGS to stay. I just think after winning 3 in a row and all the * this season having a go at him may just make him feel he has no reason to stay.

HE SAID IT ON CELTIC TV on the night of the TB funeral,,celtic tv weere talking to him in a recorded program and he said ,,im looking over gordons shoulder for his job,,tounge in cheek remark as there the best of pals ,, we were talking about it on the night,, on tictalk

personally id like him as manager if stracan goes,,he has all the experience if not more than when gordy came

wouldent mind both at same time either,,

    McGhee In ??

Was sure strachan would stay another season but after reading this I have my doubts :-

Not sure whether this would be good or bad idea but better than David O'Leary in my opinion.

Merged, check about before you post and I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest, I expect Wgs to be here for another season at least.

I think 99% of people here would love to see Moyes as the next Celtic manager, but in truth its never gonna happen until he's been a success in England. Therefore in terms of Scottish managers, McGhee is the best option. Although I have no doubts Roy Keane would be immense but like Lambert and also Collins, its just too early for these guys to take such a huge job. Strachan and McGhee might not have the best CVs in the game, but at least they have experience.
