He's calling on players to show their mental strength but he's also starting lustig, hendry and Sinclair whilst dropping rogic, Forrest, ntcham. He can talk some * lads being honest. Help their mental strength by picking a solid 11 that we play our best football and stick with it. Don't change the team and formation EVERY match and expect these players to thrive

The performances at the moment are no different in style and result to those from febuary on that secured the double treble. Every stat necessary has been posted in here to show that is the case.

The only thing thats changed is that were doing it with a weaker attack and competition as you say.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has called on his players to show their mental strength as the Parkhead side endure their worst start to a league season for twenty years.

Kilmarnock netted a 93-minute winner to come from behind and take all three points from Celtic at Rugby Park yesterday afternoon with Rodgers accepting that this has been the most challenging time of his tenure at the club.

And Rodgers has called on his players to stand up and be counted as the Parkhead side find themselves under pressure.

It’s a challenge," said the Celtic manager. "We have to accept that. There’s no doubt we need to be better. When you’re at the biggest clubs and you don’t win the heat comes onto you.

"That’s when you show you’re a Celtic player, manager, member of staff. You come together. When you lose games the spotlight will always be on you.

You need to do the basics right. The basics cost us this time.

"It hasn’t been great but we have to accept that. We’re the only ones who can make it better and get more consistent results.

"It’s been very bitty but we have to go away and see where we can be better.

I think teams have got better. I also think there’s a new found respect playing against Celtic. At St Mirrenwe saw it. You saw Rangers come and sit deep, Kilmarnock did that too.

It’s up to us, we have to find the answers to that. That’s the job. We have to analyse the game and build the mentality to win your next game."

Rodgers also insisted that he was shocked to lose the game to Steve Clarke's side yesterday after Leigh Griffiths had opened the scoring in the opening period.

The Celtic manager has yet to beat Clarke's side - Kilmarnock have had two wins and two draws against the Parkhead men - leaving Rodgers to lament two sloppy mistakes.

"I’d have been disappointed to draw but to lose is bitterly disappointing," he said. "It was a scrappy sort of game but I still feel we had the better moments and more control

Two basic situations cost us. I’m so disappointed.

"I take the responsibility for that. You make the changes to try to bring that energy and brightness which might not be there if you’ve played Thursday.

"But it was still difficult. Kilmarnock will always be deep and in their blocks set so you’ve got to be able to run beyond them and get behind.

"We mixed our game up well but it’s never going to be a good game on that surface and we wanted to find ways to win.

"We got in front, looked comfortable. The first goal comes from corner, we cleared well together but leave one side open and Burke finished well.

"The second one is basic. You have to defend a corner and be strong but Findlay gets in front of our guy and you’re disappointed.

"I’ve been there when we’ve scored enough late goals and it’s always sore when you lose it late but we’ve got no-one else to blame but ourselves."

Rodgers also maintained that he will not be pressing any panic buttons just yet.

Celtic have fallen to sixth in the table after this weekend's results but Rodgers has cautioned that there is time for the Parkhead side to rectify the situation.

"We look at it after ten games," he said. "We never get too carried away when winning and we won’t get carried away when we’re in the position we are.

"There’s no doubt we have to be better."

Worst start in 20 years. We've had some * managers in that time and none have had a start as bad. These players better start putting everything into winning. They won't get any moves out with league 1 if we don't * win. I'm bemused by Rodgers comments lately aswel. I'm * off actually. Lawell will be rubbing his hands at the thought of how he can go for another project manager and save some money and cut the wage bill.

You said we lost half a team, we clearly haven’t though.

Even though Rodgers has done the double treble and got us into the champions league twice most people out with Scotland like down south don’t see it as an achievement at all! * I know.

I would say players are out there the problem is Rodgers and his management team seem to be only looking at down south and other big leagues.

Other leagues are full of talent that’s not gonna cost is the world but our scouting system at the min is * horrible

Before the Killie game he was quoted as saying we’re in a slump ‘that may last the entire season’. If I was Lawell and heard that he should have been fired. It’s a * manager’s job to address a slump, and turn it around. Sounds like pre-emptive ‘not up for it anymore’ talk from Rodgers.

The writing is on the wall. Sevco get a 2-2 away at Villarreal and then hump St Johnstone 5-0? And we’re supposed to be happy and content that we’re on a slump that could last the season?

Rodgers is a football manager and football managers need to win football games. You’re only as good as your last game. 1 win in 5 away and mid table obscurity doesn’t bode well. He might not last till Christmas

He didn't 'drop' ntcham. He was suspended. And if you have any probs with his rotation we should have left griff on the bench...
Wholesale and continued change isn' good, but some things need to be done...

To me something doesn't add up, you don't have guy like like this, come in and do a clean sweep of the domestic scene two seasons in a row where one happens to be an invincible season.

To then have the worst start of any Celtic manager in twenty years I mean without looking that's got to be about Barnes times.

It is far to easy to blame the recruitment on such a serious slump in form. Personally I think the damage is already done this season and even if we win the league there is a very real chance that Rodgers is leaving at the end.

Hate on me for saying that but it's become so common place now that unless your a Mowbray or Ronnie you're given three seasons before the job becomes untenable and the ambitions of the manager aren't properly supported no matter how much money you bring off the back of your success.

So I’m not allowed to be concerned? When the manager says I should be alarmed?
    Give it a rest

The manager says you should be alarmed about our start of season form.

At no time did he say you should be alarmed about the shower of * from Ibrokes who we just schooled a matter of weeks ago.

As I’ve suggested lately our fantastic form in the game against Secvo, non-existent in every other game this season - maybe the team now can only get it up when they need to? The malaise is there for all to see. Hendry. Christie. Lustig. Gordon. So many passengers .... doesn’t matter that Boyata is playing better as he’s working his ticket for January obviously. Benkovic - potentially answer to our prayers does a Jozo = crocked. I’m dismayed by this start to the season. I blame Rodgers. He’s had 4/5 transfer windows to fix a listless Deila shower of *. We look on a level with other SPFL sides right now.

I’ll be watching the St Johnstone game through the cracks in my fingers
