He replaced Kelvin Wilson with Virgil van Dijk.

Not a bad result if you ask me...

I blame the Green Brigade for getting rid of Strachan...All went downhill since then

The first few months when we were recovering from losing Hooper, Wanyama and Wilson it was. Last 6 months was some of the best football I’ve seen at Celtic Park.

Is he * a far superior manager at least Lennon knew our limitations and worked with it. Rogers' system isn't working and he's incapable of changing it.

My memory's a bit sketchy these days, so I'll have to take your word for it.

On paper though, Lennon was well backed.

He went from having a striker from Scunthorpe to a striker brought in from Shalke.

A defender on a freebie from Nottm Forest to a Dutch prodigy from Groningen.

And signed a winger from Ajax.

That being said, only one of those 3 was a resounding success.

True like now but at least we were scoring plenty and winning. It was also a bit of a rebuilding season. Players like Leigh Griffiths much criticized at the time were to go on to prove to be very good signings. Among the dross we got some real gems without ever paying any large fees. Ironic that he finally got a striker who would only come good after he left

See at this moment in time, I'd * do a straight swap with Hibs for Lennon, absolutely.

I remember wee Leigh being pretty much an instant success, pretty ironic that he flourished into a 40 goal a season striker under Deila though after Ronny threw him the gaunlet of a challenge...

Perhaps he hit form because he had time to bed in. We often hear that the time for us to buy is in January so the players are well established come CL qualifying time. He also gave us Rogic although injury robbed him of the chance to play during his tenure

Same, just cause I'd be 100% confident of Lennon winning the league cause we wouldn't play as open or as one dimensionally as we are currently.

Lennon and Park's signings signalled the dawn of us accepting nothing less than £10m for our best players.

Tell ye what, for all of the "intensity" Rodgers speaks of, Lennon's players had it in abundance - as well as fight, aggression, spirit...the lot!

*, if he could oversee Samaras and turn him into Celtic's top ever European scorer and absolutely unplayable at times....well, * me that's the sign of a genius if ever there was one!

The football was dreadful to watch. The European campaign was dreadful in quite an easy group (relatively speaking). Aberdeen putting us out of the Scottish Cup early on.

That Celtic team was on its decline at that point and change was always on the card at the end of that season.

For £6m after bringing in £25m in transfers that season and £25m from making the last 16 as well.

    Sounds a familar story that.

Ridiculously premature talk about Brendan over on the other thread that i'll not entertain but if Neil Francis were to come home in future i would have not one shred of doubt he would do a job. Not one!! Actually would have accepted him when we got Brendan and i say this as somebody that thought he had to go during his first reign, for his sake as much as ours!! What he is achieving at Hibs, with not a little style, just confirms this for me!!

I would rather watch dreadful football while beating Barca than be enthralled by PSG hammering us. Anybody thinks we can play beautiful free flowing football in the CL group stages and expect to have any chance of reaching the last 16 is deluded

I get that, but like I say ON PAPER those 3 players were very much an upgrade on what we had and where we signed them from.

Every * and their granny was excited about seeing Pukki coming in from the Bundesliga and mad Boeriggter coming in from Ajax.

Mate, we need to go more route one and back to basics in the league and * mix it up a bit never mind anything else. Our game plan has been sussed out a while ago!!!

We didn’t beat Barca that season. They done us like a kipper in the Nou camp akin to Rodgers team at the Nou camp a few years back. Worst CL performance I’ve seen at Celtic Park in ages was against AC Milan in Lennys last season. Horrid watch against quite a poor team.

I’d rather a Man City-esque enthralling performance over them all tbh. But thats a personal thing I supppse
