I’m not talking about ridiculous amounts mate, but a better calibre than Compper and Hendry in Jan and nothing else until today..

2 brinkmanship CL qualifying campaigns.....a 3rd was just pushing our luck too far when we were in the best postion to do it.That's was so frustrating. Riding high after a double treble, knew our weakensses (or i thought they did) and imo they've went and totally * it!!

No, they wouldn't. I've not heard a single fan asking for us to spend "stupid money on players".

What should have been possible was to promise Rodgers a transfer budget of £10 million plus any fees brought in from player sales.

£30 million is not "peanuts", it may be if you're comparing us to ultra-elite clubs, no-one is delusional enough to expect us to be held to that standard.

The AEK back 4 that kept us out was put together for a combined £2.5 million. Now that's certainly a standard we can hold ourselves to but we failed miserably by failing to invest in the defence and cost ourselves £40 million in the process.

Investment in LED light systems, pitches, hotels or museums should not be done to the detriment of the football side. If finances dictate that it is one or the other and there is pressing need to improve the squad then that should always take precedence.

Non-essential, non-urgent expenditure could have and should have been put on the back burner.

Ok, Compper was a respected player in the Bundesliga and seemed a solid signing at the time, Hendry was signed as a good squad player and possible first team project. How higher do we aim? When we go big higher wages get stupid. England? forget about it wages are silly for * players. Spain? been burned there before with players like Scepovic from lower La Liga teams. Eastern Europe or Scandinavia? that needs extensive scouting.

Glad we signed a defender, disappointed to lose Dembele. Still need a right back and now a striker.

Spent £9m and brought in £28m? Could have backed Brendan more and we’d probably be in the CL groups.

Feels very much like we’re in the same sort of situation as we were in in the 2014/15 season. Selling our best players and replacing them with free transfers and loans. It’s not * easy being a Celtic fan is it. :giggle1:

The good old roundabout of Celtic from season to season

Solid at the back but lacking upfront
To plenty of attacking options, non existent defence.

    Rinse and repeat.

The last part I agree with in a way but raising the clubs profile is important as well.

On the first point. Of course you have, you just said we have a fat bank account and wanted us to spend it all on players instead of anything else, that's stupid money. The Huns tried that once...

It's peanuts compared to our ambitions.

We we're all over AEK for 180 mins of football, they got lucky, we should have buried them in the home tie, even St Johnstone get lucky sometimes.

Needs to go out and pay good money for a top DOF and get rid of Congerton immediately.

We had a wage bill of something like £55m last year.

At what point does the likes of Rodgers and Congerton get held accountable for wasting that sort of money?

Short notice? We’ve had 5 windows under BR to address the defence.

Dembele is another matter, I have a degree of sympathy with the club in the way that played out..
